Once we get legendary armor....
That’s a good question and everything has been speculation so its hard to say.

I think it would be more interesting to get a quest chain / trek / collection / whatever that taught use the ability to add and “save” runes on armor. Where you would need to physically acquire the rune and add to each piece, to slowly build up your rune swapping options. As opposed to just do ‘x’ and get a rune that does it all. I’d like to sort of see similar for sigils.
It would increase the demand slightly for the less used ones, because some people are completionists and won’t be happy unless they have them all. And other people can just add the half dozen or so they want.

A designated sloy for rune and sigil like in PVP would have been ideal, however it’s too late to implement that now, it would crash the rune and sigil market.
Legendary weapons use exotic runes, this should give enough indication as to what you are going to have.
To be honest I don’t think Legendary armor is worth the hype it has got, unless they include some way of removing the runes free or switching them on the fly. Even with free rune removal you would need to carry several sets of runes.
Even taking that into account how many people actually change armor sets? Most will slap on a zerker or condi set and that’s it.

Sure the skin is nice for legendaries but a big part of it is also the ability to switch your stats up on the fly, and this will be a big part of legendary armor as well because just by being able to switch the stats on all of your gear easily it makes changing whole builds on the fly easier. Runes are a big part of builds as well and if you are switching to a build that requires different runes having to extract them and out in new ones every time will be a pita.
It would be nice if there was some function with Legendary armor which would make that process easier.

No, I’m pretty sure it was said somewhere that it was stated to have this functionality. And it makes sense that it would, considering the backpiece does….(at least, I think it does. Don’t have one yet)

I would be extremely surprised if there wasn’t some system that allows for cheap rune changes. Even if they weren’t planning it originally, there have been more than a few forum threads about it and it is a reasonable request.
My best guess would be that there will be a legendary quality extraction device like the one in fotm, so you could remove runes for a low(ish) cost, maybe like 25s-1g per armor piece. This is pretty cheap but also a bit inconvenient (one more item to carry around all the time wooo).
It’s also possible there will be something like legendary runes that can be moved into and out of legendary armor at will, which would be convenient but would likely come with a large initial cost.
Or maybe there will be something I didn’t think of or maybe there will be nothing and it will be really expensive ascended armor. Who knows.

If Anet announced this then it is not speculation, it is a fact! I personally have not seen anything which is why I’m saying speculation is speculation. I do believe that they will have the function to change stats but obviously, this leaves everyone hanging on what the heck are they going to do about runes.

Yes I was… and you seem to have forgotten the stat switching was added when Ascended gear was added to differentiate them from Ascended gear. The reality of now is what matters, not what existed before Ascended things were in game. Stat switching for legendaries is one of the main perks of Legendaries currently.

Legendary by definition in this game allows you to switch stats. Legendary weapons have the same stats as Ascended but you can select any available set of stats you want. The change to Legendary weapons was made when they introduced Ascended.
Originally legendary weapons had higher stats than exotics but could not be changed, they then introduced the changeable stats and finally brought in ascended as a ‘poor person’s legendary’
the question is how useful will changing the stats actually be and will anyone actually bother.
another solution would be no runes slot, but the legendary armor could have more numbers to stats or when you switch stats follow the logic of a superior rune with some limitations (chose your main stat increase, chose secondary stat, chose effect on heal, chose final effect etc etc)
edit: before ascended, legendary weapon had the same stats as exotic, it was all about the skin. with the introduction of ascended they increased the stat and the ability to change it

The silverwastes will be populated with a bunch of people wearing the same outfit.

Dont think we will get legendary Armour for a long time.the collection for the first raid just unlocks the first tier precursor.probably be at least three more tiers and a year or two till we get our legendary Armour.
I think all legendary items should have both; selectable stats like we do now and selectable sigils/runes built into them. This way anet doesn’t need to design legendary runes/sigils seperatly that would affect market drasticly. Just add another drop down menu on legendary gear.
Too many people don’t bother with Legendary gear because well its not worth it beyond the Flashy appearance. If there was another strong reason to invest into Legendary gear I think it would be great add on to GW2. After guild wars wants to be about unique builds through gear choices and having a convience such as selectable stats/runes/sigil would just be a lot of an incentive.

No, it was the same stats. They upgraded the stats with the ascended weapons patch.

Yea… unless I REALLY love the skins on the legendary armor I can pretty much guarantee I’ll reskin all of it. I don’t really care much about any “prestige”… mostly care about being able to easily swap builds fully.

I think it’s safe to say that’s not going to be what it is.
Everyone who is gunning for legendary armor is expecting that stat swapping functionality. If they didn’t get it, I imagine they wouldn’t be too happy.
