Q:
Pact Tyria masteries
- Will dungeon experience increase the progress bar for Tyrian masteries ?
We don’t know and I doubt we will find out long before release, if we find out before release at all.
- What percentage of a mastery bar will a dungeon run increase ?

- Masteries, are they horizontal or vertical progression ?
Horizontal-ish. Some masteries seem to be somewhat vertical, but only within the expansion areas (such as being more resistent against conditions caused by Mordrem). Those masteries give no benefits outside of those areas. See: http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Mastery
When you’re ready I expect a blog post detailing these systems and maybe addressing some of my concerns.
I wouldn’t count on it. I think they have released enough already concerning masteries to answer your primary concerns.

Probably
No one knows
Horizontal http://www.engadget.com/2014/02/05/mmo-mechanics-comparing-vertical-and-horizontal-progression/
You can say that masteries are a vertical progression system limited to the new maps. Instead of giving you lvls and abilities that work in all of the game world, you now have to work for some abilities that have value in only a few maps. Yeaps, gone are the days when you had new abilities that work all over the place. From now on you’ll only get perks that work in the specific maps that employ it. I suspect the grind will be awesome. You’ll work and work and work and come the second expansion you’ll have nothing of value for the new maps… ain’t “horizontal” progression great or what?
Let’s cross our fingers that the specializations will offer some sense of actual progression…

Actually, they have made it sound like specializations are even more horizontal than masteries. They said there will be a reason to switch back and forth between ranger and druid and they do not want players with the expansion to have an edge over those without the expansion.

yeah but actuall horizontal progression is actual progression, i mean having access to playstyles you never did before is a welcome change, even for solo pve, stuff get boring eventually it’s a nice change to be able to be something different. actuall horizontal progression i wouldn’t mind .. it’s this pseudo vertical one we’re getting that got me … disappointed
