Genuinely wondering…..

If they are making harder content that will be open world, I still wont be able to do it with so much color and spell effect exploding on my screen.

Is this going to have a slider in the option menu like every other AAA game out there?

Something like this can only distract from the conversation, certainly it did bring up the knee-jerk response of “then go play XYZ!” in me.

Sorry you feel that way. However, this is a standard mmo feature, and with adfi.g harder content that will hopefully be equivalent to other AAA games out there, I feel the comment is a valid one.

Sure, why not? With patches like this half of the remaining playerbase will ‘go play something else’.

Man, everquest ONE (1999 release) has a particle scale slider. As well as a number of particles slider and a number of particle effects per player displayed slider. The fact that gw2 which released in 2012 does not have these is basically insulting.

I really hope they allow us to lower the fireworks shows.
At the moment it’s really hard to even see the enemy under all the light effects. I just don’t understand how do people see the hints of special attacks that need to be dodged, when I can’t even see the mob.

It would be helpful if you could choose what kind of particles you want to be shown and from what players.
- Buffs
-Debuffs
-Damage
-Healing

-Self
-Group
-NPC’s
-All

I know other people have asked for this from the start, and its good to hear that other people have trouble seeing stuff through all the clutter!

Hopefully they will address this in HoT. Sort of pointless to make things harder if you can’t even see the boss…

I seriously doubt this feature would have anything to do with HoT. This should just be a general QoL improvement setting addition. The flashy slideshow doesn’t bother me nearly as much as constantly loosing the cursor (same reason, different day).

There already is. In the graphic settings menu, I believe it’s the Post Processing effects. Turn that off, and the big ball of white from spells on the Champ Boss goes away.

In GW2, Trading Post plays you!

I sympathise with that. Big events would be every epileptics nightmare. For me, it’s not about seeing the attacks, it’s know how the mob time their attacks. After a while, you get to know around about the right time to do a dodge or pop a block. It’s not 100% fool proof but I catch about 80% of the attacks by knowing the timings between attacks. It doesn’t matter what they throw, as long as they attack, I’ll at least be dodging something. If they don’t and I’m out by a few seconds, I’ve got a chance to reposition.

They don’t seem to have an engine team anymore. No work on it has been done since the culling problem has been resolved.

Just like they had no one working on an expansion right? Just because they don’t tell you stuff, doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist. you are after all the perfect example of why Arenanet shuts up.

In my opinion, the only particle effects that drastically needs to have an option to turn down are Guardian particle effects. Guardian effects make whatever you’re trying to fight a big ball of light. It’s impossible to know when to dodge or know which direction it’s facing, because it’s so bright and blinding.

Please, at the very least, put a slider for Guardian’s particle effects. I dislike fighting along side guardians in pve for this reason.
