Patches in between

We don’t know.
It’d be insane if the story just stalled until the expansion comes out. From the sounds of it, the expansion is a ways away (they haven’t announced the price, the release date and they confirmed there will be a demo in 6 weeks at PAX and and a beta) so the story needs to pick up where it left off some time soon. Guild Wars 2’s timeline moves in real time and the game is going to get a lot of interest now, it would be a shame not to have Living Story releases taking advantage of a captive audience.
I predict we will see the fallout from the failed Pact mission – word comes back that it failed and that the sylvari sabotaged them. The races will turn on sylvari, the remaining Pact and Orders will remove them from their ranks, sylvari like Canach will be chased down and the PC will have to deal with the fallout.
Lion’s Arch is overdue for an update and some of the LA NPCs have new lines after the last patch, suggesting we might see that story pick up a little bit.
I think Living Story will return before the expansion and help lead into it.
Well there is at least the 6 week gap between now and the playable demo at the next PAX event, which means at least 3 more patches (if still on 2 week schedule). I’m willing to bet at least another month after the PAX event for release, so at least 5 more patches, unless they re-release SAB and leave that up for a month (that’d be two patches right there).
We do have a patch on the 27th (this coming Tuesday), that’ll have at least the balance changes. I think Gail (maybe it was Rubi?) said something about the next patch and that they still won’t give info about it.
Please give us a keyring…
Story wise I doubt their will be anything till the expasion. During the broadcast didn’t they say that the beginning of HoT takes place minutes after the S2 Finale.
So if we’re going to get a patch it might only be announced on Tuesday and (perhaps) come out the next Tuesday.
I do agree that to keep the playerbase interested, something would need to be done to hold them over until HoT is out. Let’s see….
1) There’s the return of the Super Adventure Box
2) Helping out in the reconstruction of Lion’s Arch as well as other areas in which Scarlett trashed
3) Probable way of replaying the Season 1 instances?
There will be NO new living story prior to the release of the expansion. This has been confirmed by Colin when he said “Heart of Thorns picks up right were living story left off”.
I’m pretty sure there was a time when Anet said they’d be giving players an opportunity to replay old content. Since there cannot logically be any story progression until the expac (Collin said the story of the expac starts immediately after the pact is destroyed) we won’t be seeing anything like lions arch being rebuilt or anything at all to do with Mordremoth and the LS so far. I would wager Anet is going to take this time to open up the old updates to players so that we can experience any content we may have missed and to reinforce the story of how we got here.
So, the Living Story is out for several months. Are we to expect a lot of mini-content updates? A truckload of balancing? Nothing?
I’d bet nothing.
They said that the expansion will pick up where S2 left off, so no there will not be any living story arcs between now and then. I imagine we’ll just get filler stuff. Maybe they’ll bring back dragon bash. Or now would be a good time for a SAB to distract people.
I wouldn’t put it past them to release a half season of the LS in-between now and whenever the expansion release. They could fill it with everyone reaction to the destruction of the Pact fleet, set up for the background of the new specializations, possibly the return of Rytlock from the Mists to set up the Revenant before launch(?), etc.
