Just revisited the Chantry of Secrets, and holy kitten, that was a trip down memory lane.

The orders in the Personal Story were really tight-knit, and awesome. I really loved the permanence and identity to choosing our order, as well. I’m sure others felt the same way.

I am an Order of Whispers member, and I want to identify as such. When I am briefed on missions, I want to go to the Chantry of Secrets, and get my own Order’s unique take on events.

Please consider re-including the Orders in the Heart of Thorns storyline. Not the Pact, but the Orders themselves.

There was actually a discussion in one of the CDI’s on making the orders more relevant later on in the game, for example through daily quests and/or through reputation grind. Whether or not something along those lines ever makes it into the game is something only Anet knows.

The fact the orders make up the pact I am completely sure they will play a huge part in the story and I doubt Anet would forget to make the player character go to see their orders but maybe now with Destinys Edge 2.0 we will just see the orders in the maps and in the story instances.

well, as I’ve seen mentioned elsewhere – with the pact broken by mordremoth, it’s not impossible that we’ll see them revert back into the orders.

The pact needs to be deunionized. The orders function better by themselves, we don’t need all our marbles in one basket, and it’s harder for the enemy to be aware of and attempting to thwart 3 organization’a separate attacks than it is one.

The pact can’t revert back into the orders because the pact is not the combination of the three orders. The pact is completely seperate from the orders. The orders give some of their resources (such as research and units) to the pact but the orders continued to exist alongside the pact.

And they just coincidentally weren’t doing anything while the pact existed?

They probably keep doing things, but the game lost focus of their work after Zaithan. Here and there we see some members of the orders doing specific tasks to help the main character, but overall the orders became a blurry background.

In fact, that is one of the bigger flaws in the recent story.

While I do think they should, I can see complications for players who haven’t played far enough to select an order. (Only 1 of my 8 have)

^ Yeah, about that. Are majority of the HoT content designed for level 80s? Should you finish the PS first before continuing? You were being referred to as Pact Commander in LS2, maybe you can join the pact without officially being a member of the pact? But doesn’t that make you a mercenary? Don’t tell me “there are no longer separate Orders, only one Order now exists”. That’s just lazy. They need to work together, but at the same time they need to be independent. They are independent.

So I’m guessing revenant characters will have a separate leveling area. It would be interesting to see how they would give revenants their personal history. I like the branching story of the original PS. It made things interesting, I even made multiple characters of the same race just to experience the other PS choices. I think GW2 was meant to be played over and over again, with multiple characters of various races and background.

We are probably going to become the Supreme Pact God Emperor of the Orders eventually, so we will have a Pact Marshal mastery line as well. We will have Paperworks mastery, 10% speed increase in bureaucracy. Meditative Mediation mastery, 50% increased chance to give a critical speech to lesser peons, aka pact commanders. Charisma Aura mastery will give a 100% chance NPCs will /kneel in reverence to your presence

I have been faithfully reading the HoT forums but mostly content to just digest and consider the views of others. About the orders, though…

I have run, I think, about ten of my characters through PS far enough to join an order. I have to say that the selection and joining of the order has always been a high point for me and even after all of these characters, I still enjoy each time around. It seems a shame that such a strong line of content has not been fully developed or is ongoing. I would very much like to see the inclusion of orders as we go forward.

That said, I can see the difficulty for those that didn’t do the PS far enough to select. Maybe there could be some alternate form of order recruitment in the expansion or maybe LS3 when it comes along.

That the Pact has to go is a crucial element of the proposal Shriketalon put forth to ANet last year.

I strongly urge everyone to read Shriketalon’s post on merging the personal and living story for excellent concepts of a possible future for GW2.

I also urge anyone reading his thread to read everything else he has written on the forums – tons of fantastic infographics and concepts. I’m actually seeing a lot of his concepts seeming to make their way into ANet’s narrative and groundwork for future stories and that gives me hope.

Yes.

Should you finish the PS first before continuing?

HoT takes place after Season 2, which takes place after Season 1, which takes place after the PS so it would be advisable to have done that content on at least 1 character before starting HoT. However, it is not required.

You were being referred to as Pact Commander in LS2, maybe you can join the pact without officially being a member of the pact? But doesn’t that make you a mercenary?

Why exactly would that make you a mercenary? If you are still a Durmand Priory researcher, just temporarily working for the pact, then you are just that, a researcher.

So I’m guessing revenant characters will have a separate leveling area.

No, they will have the same story and levelup experience as all other professions.

I don’t think so. First, because I think Thrahearne will continue to be in that position. Second, because the player can’t have too many responsibilities in an organization because that would interfere with his adventuring and dragon-killing. Hmm, you’re kidding aren’t you?

I also want the lesser races of Tyria involved as well in the storyline (Hylek is kinda-sorta there in the BWE). I personally liked being involved with the lesser race I chose, and would like to do again, but this time have it be more involved with the HoT arc.

Why do we need a reputation grind? I am the Pact Commander. They should respect me for bringing them together and leading them.

5x Warrior, 5x Ranger, 4x Elementalist, 4x Engineer,
4x Necromancer, 3x Mesmer, 4x Guardian, 4x Thief, 4 Revenant

You’re not leading them. Gixx leads the Priory, Almorra leads the Vigil and Riel leads the Order of Whispers. Trahearne leads the pact. You are just one of many pact commanders (although you are the first commander and trahearne’s right hand).

Besides, I’m not saying that reputation will be added or that it is a good idea, just that it was discussed.

Ya a lot of people seem to forget there is a lot of responsibilities being the Leader of the Pact that prevents a lot of freedom to go adventuring and stuff our character can do. These task are not shown much but they are not something that can be ignored if a person is the head of a organization.

There is paper work, military planning, information organization, military deployments, diplomatic meetings, political relation with each Race leaders, resource management, contact organization, and etc.

Ya they’re not combat action stuff that would allow the Pact Leader to go out and adventure whenever he or she wants but these are important things that are required to manage a Organization like the Pact. Something Trehearne excel at despite his lack of combat abilities which is where our character comes in to handle the Combat aspect of managing the Pact since we are the Commander and direct assaults and tough operations is our character speciality.

Trehearne handles the annoying politics with other races, paper work, millitary planning, supply trading, long meetings with high ranking officers, military base contruction planning, recuitment management, and other boring things a lot of players don’t want to do.

Our character handles the adventure, exploring, and operations.
