Please remove time from stronghold
In short, you want a moba well, i’m a moba fan, but i’m not sure if i wanna see that on gw2
Not moba, what i want is a more interesting stronghold. And this is one of the ways i think it would be more interesting.
But it’s already moba’ish just a more boring version of it :/
True. Still, making it a “full moba” isn’t the solution in my opinion: if i wanna play a moba i go play dota or lol or whatever: it’s better
2. Cut all player stats by half …
Let’s say for each kill (both players and npc’s, less for minions more for guards and most from players) you get 1 % back of your stats(may be increased to a little more than 1% for each kill).
So now we got a little progression which will prevent the game for going on forever.
I don’t like.
This means the winning team will continue to win (and even by a wider margin). It’s a recipe for disaster and people leaving the match prematurely.
Also, the timer is there because it must be a queue option against other PvP match types that also take similar amounts of time. This isn’t Alterac Valley 40v40 with multiple objectives. It’s a simplified resource/escort hurdle to get past first-level objectives and then possibly PvP with some fairly weak/almost solo-able NPCs.
IMO, it’s a new map right now so it looks like the timer isn’t long enough but it’s really more than plenty.
I love the combat in gw2, the design is just amazing. It got interesting skills and alot of stuff i find better than dota, lol, smite, heroes of the storm and so on.
So i don’t want to play another game, but pvp wise i don’t find much joy anymore. And stronghold is already a stripped down moba, so if they just leave it this way i will get bored quickly.
So i hope they either make it more interesting by making it more about taking down the lord instead of loosing by time(have won by time and i felt cheated since i didn’t get the pleasure by stomping the lord).
The rest of the solutions is more about preventing the game by being too long without a time limit.
But i’m not here to convince you though, this is what i would like to see and i’m sorry but telling me to play another game is not the solution but may be the reality if they don’t change Stronghold.

I wasn’t telling you to play another game, i was just saying that if gw2’s stronghold became like a moba, I would play another game. Or at least, that i would not play stronghold if i can choose. Still, i get your point
I agree with removing the timer, but yet again this game mode is fun at first but fails in one aspect imo. The death timers. I know it would make it even more like a moba, but that is where they got the idea of “stronghold” from, but why not make it so that if you die later in the game the respawn timer is longer then the start, that way you cant be an idiot and rush the lord and get wiped.. only to respawn and then will allow for some counter play and actually dare i say it.. SMART GAMEPLAY…
wait what? you “solution” to avoid an endless match by removing timers… is to nerf players? that gonna drag it even further out… how does that even make sense?
longer respawns as the time goes is the answer.

Mobas are balanced that way for a reason.

Mobas are balanced that way for a reason.
One of those reasons is they are the only thing to do in that game. This is a very small subsystem that can’t expect to eat up as much time as the winning side wants to milk it for. Some of us drop in to play and don’t want to get tied down for an indefinite timeframe.
Plus all the matches I’ve ever had time out were nail-biters because of it.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”
- Jareth, King of Goblins.
On the 20 matches our guild did in the beta, we ran out of time only once and I don’t think that even with 15 more minutes, a lord would have been killed.
So that timer is perfectly fine for me.
maybe have it an option in custom arena’s to remove the timer, as it would certainly not be for anyone, nor for the most of the players to enjoy without the timer, though it could be interesting once in a while, and specially if someone do it as a mini gvg
I doubt very much the time will be removed, and I do not think it should be (at least in the default setup). Custom arenas of course should and likely will have the option to increase or remove the timer. To be honest, much like Dark Dark Binks, I only had 1 game time out, the rest ended in a lord being defeated.
Also, judging by this comment, made by Hugh Norfolk 11 months ago, Anet want PvP game modes to follow a very strict criteria.
Game modes in PvP, according to Anet, must adhere to the following:
1. Must be able to be hot join-able
2. Must fit the 5 on 5 standard
3. Can fit our standard PvP match time (15 mins)
4. (Would Be Nice) Shout castable
Unless they have changed their minds on the above, I do not see things like the timer and number of players, in non-custom arena games, changing.
I personally think this is a shame, as I would love to see more options available. But if we was able to more easily filter the types of games, and their set up options, in order to quickly hot-join into the types of games you want, I think that would improve things a lot without changing the default settings.
