The description for the pact commander level 2 mastery productive downtime states “Learn to be more efficient and gain bonus experience when crafting”

Now either someone hasn’t thought this through or there is a bug in game.

Masteries can only be acquired by lvl 80 characters and level 80 characters XP goes towards masteries, however (unless it is bugged) crafting XP doesn’t raise the mastery XP bar which makes productive downtime utterly useless!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

For this reason I haven’t bothered to train it yet, I have checked crafting normally and no XP is awarded to the mastery track being trained.

Anyone have this trained up who can confirm the above?

I’m guessing it’s intended for alts. Vets won’t get much out of it.

Maybe my key runner will get some use out of it. I don’t have a lot of use for that one beyond that. But all I want from that mastery is loot vacuum anyway.

Be careful what you ask for
ANet may give it to you.

The entire point of the Pact Tyria mastery line is to waste players’ time. None of the bonuses are worth actually having. It is intended to be a bad joke to those who keep wanting “something to grind for.”

“If you spent as much time working on [some task] as
you spend complaining about it on the forums, you’d be
done by now.”

Could it be bonus crafting experience you’re getting? Rather than helping you level your character up faster, is it helping you level up your crafting faster?

That being said, only did this track for the Hoover mode. Now I never have to backtrack to check if that grub that I tagged with Retaliation when I was running by dropped a precursor or something.

it applies to crafting experience, not character experience you get from crafting.

in other words, leveling crafting has just got faster and cheaper.

O.K so having now tested this with the mastery – No XP awarded for crafting (bonus or otherwise) goes toward the mastery track.

If this is working as intended it really is useless and as a second tier mastery, very poorly thought out. Hopefully (not that it would make much difference to most vet players) crafting XP should go towards the mastery track but like the Mad King events, it has been overlooked – If not, it really should be turned on or preferably (so that level 80 playes also benefit) change the XP bonus to gathering instead of crafting

It’s crafting xp. You know, the orange numbers that you get when you craft that level up that crafting skill.

It makes leveling new crafts quite a bit faster, which makes going for stuff like master crafter, scribe, or hitting 500 to do ascended gear faster and thus cheaper.

Sure, it may not be useful for some people that are maxed out right now (and that don’t plan on picking up scribe, which is valid, more than one scribe per guild is a huge waste, and some people aren’t even in guilds so scribe would be largely useless to them) but they’ve said they’re adding ranks to cooking, jeweler, etc. and will porbably continue to add new crafting disciplines.

It’s not there to make leveling mastries faster. It’s there to make leveling crafting faster.
