Raids are coming out tomorrow and I really like the color tints from the poly-luminescent refractors, I don’t care that the stats are celestial and exotic(I play engie and max stats don’t bother me). So should I wait for raids to come out and see how hard it is to get the new “ghostly aura infusion” or just the buy the poly refractor now while the prices are low?

Raid bosses also have some additional unique, thematic rewards. These may include miniatures of the boss or their minions—or even unique cosmetic rewards. One such unique reward that can be obtained in Spirit Vale is an infusion that, when equipped, will provide your character with a ghostly aura.

the poly upgrades will stay tradeable, even if you use them.

So buy one now, make sure to slap it on a salvageable trinket and if you obtained the ghostly infusion, you can salvage the trinket and sell the poly. if you wish. Maybe you even make a little profit, if prices start to rise again.

And maybe the effects stack with the ghostly infusion, so might want to keep both.

I think the candy corn orichalcum amulet stays account bound, even after equipping it, so it might be a good choice to slap the infusion on it, as you can swap it between alts. And it has selectable stats.

Not 100% sure though, if it really stays account bound after use.

Well, then, the OPs post is worded confusingly as it sounds like he is asking if he should buy the ghostly aura now.

As to the OP’s question, you can rest assured that the ghostly aura one will be a rare drop and the price on the trading post will be extremely high. I suggest you buy one of the old ones while they are cheap. If you should get a ghostly aura one, you can sell the old one and get your gold back.

The poly-lumis are dirt cheap relative to 2014-2015 pricing. I can’t imagine they will stay this low, since the drop rate didn’t increase (according to ToT bag data) and the price of ToTs is about 50-100% higher than last year (depending on how you measure).

Thus if you have 1,000g to spare, I’d buy at least one and then wait to see the look, price, and drop rate on the new ghostly aura. On the other hand, if you have only 50-300g to spend, you might want to save it.

The poly lumi have several issues:

• They don’t work on ascended.
• They only go in L80 items.
• They soulbind the item for exotics (and more than a few exotic trinkets can’t be salvaged).

Thus, the only way you can re-use them is to add them to a fine-quality, L80 accessory or ring and salvage that with a BL kit. That means both a loss of stats and an inconvenience.

In the new HoT story there are a couple different rings/accessories that become account bound when equipped. At least that’s what I have been using with my black cat poly.

And for op, you’d might as well buy one now. Its cheap if anything just sell it later. Plus the new stuff will probably be 2k gold+ basing off how they are doing things now. (for example see how much it costs to make an ascended not legendary nightfury shoulderpiece) Or it will be account bound and insanely rare (plus only 1 chance per week). So go for the old stuff it is more reliable! =P

My thinking is that if the Ghost thing is an “infusion” rather than a “gemstone/upgrade slot” item they will go back and make the Poly-luminescent items into infusions as well as the Queen Bee from SilverWastes.

I would pick the colors up you want now before they change them since they look to be at their cheapest, at least according to gw2spidy.

On the flip side, if they dont update the poly items and the queen bee then no one is going to want to use them since the ghostly one sounds like it goes into ascended gear while they only slot into exotic.

huh, I got the black poly this halloween, and was unsure whether to sell or keep it. I was actually a little surprised that it didnt create a more distinct, obvious coloration, so I was a bit disappointed, thus my considering selling it. Maybe it was due to the armor I was wearing.
