Pre-Collections reveal on HoT Launchday(?)
I think you fail to understand why we get precursor crafting in the first place.
I think you fail to understand why we get precursor crafting in the first place.
And i think you fail to admit that there might be items in the collection who are or who need items we can buy from the tradingpost. It would be really nice, if all of the collections only include items we can only optain trough playing and not buying, but i fear there will we a few who you can get trough the tp or a huge amoungt of rng luck (i look at you: treasure hunter).

As soon as someone unlocks the requirements, they will be posted in Dulfy, the Wiki, and all over the web. No one that wants the information will be at a disadvantage to anyone else.
ok, here is the problem. As of right now, this is really only speculation. Its entirely possible that they don’t want to show case what is in the collections to prevent a whole bunch of people from buying and selling precursors. It could have nothing to do with buying or selling items in the collections. Lets just look at where they are going. One of their latest collections in silver wastes did not involve any materials that you could buy or sale. My guess is that the collections for precursors will mostely involve materials that you
A. Can’t buy or sell, but have to earn or
B. Can buy or sell, but you can also buy from an npc.
Why do I believe this? Well, they posted an image of the collections tab for the procurer on their website in an article titled “A Legendary Journey”. The image that they have their cursor over has a picture of queen Jennah and says “show off your dance moves to Jennah, queen of Kryta” It then says trophy and soulbound on acquire. If it is souldbound, then you cannot post it on the trading post or mail it to other players. Lets keep looking. It also looks like you may need an Ambrite Fossilized Bee for the collection. What a surprise, you can’t buy these on the trading posts as they are account bound. Another one I see on the list is an Ambrite Fossilized Cricket (same thing). As for the green wine at the bottom, I don’t know what it is. I don’t think its elonian wine, as it has a square at the bottom instead of a diamond. However, the top wine looks like Courage. This can by crafted in the mystic forge with an Eldritch scroll, 20 mystic coins, 20 piles of Crystalline dust, and a bottle of Elonian wine. The only thing you can buy/sell on the trading post is the crystalline dust. However, not sure how much prices for this material are really going to change beings you need 250 piles to complete the legendary any way. Another item looks like a charged shard, which you can buy/sale on the trading post. Another is a Stein of Cold Beer (bought from an npc) and Monk’s beer Stein (bought from an npc with karma). There is an orange in the list as well that can be bought/sold, but these are so easy to obtain. There is also some Fireworks, which can once again be bought from an npc vendor. There is also a Mini Evon Gnashblade that can be bought from laurel vendors. Finally, it looks like there is some more food and other items on the list. However, as of right now, I cannot identify them.
So, in conclusion, it looks like for the energizer the only thing invest worthy is crystalline dust and charged shards. However, it takes only one charged shard while other precursors might require a different material. Additionally, 20 crystalline dust isn’t really that much compared to the huge amount (250) people are going to buy to make their legendaries anyway. Seems like most of the items have to be earned or bought from vendors.

XStein, the dev who made that Collection image confirmed that it was full of placeholder images. No Preserved Queen Bee required, etc. We continue to have no idea what building a precursor will require or if any of it will be tradeable at all.

OP you already answered you own question in the 1st paragraph “Anet has stated they wouldn´t showcase what’s in the pre-collection to prevent the crowd from panic buying/selling”
It’s to keep the rich players from gaming the system, from my understanding of the data mined new map reward system prices of mats will take a huge dive from the huge influx of mats into the economy.
Main thing is Anet wants the players to discover things in game so they try to spoil little as possible! So No!!!!
“ANet. They never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity to not mess up.”
Mod “Posts created to cause unrest with unfounded claims are not allowed” lmao

Seen from this standpoint, yes, i would say you are right. Even if there are some greedy players, who don´t “publish” these infos, there would be enough who do. So if I really want to, I probably would be able to get the info really fast.
Xstein.2187, you may be right too. In my mind were only collections like “treasure hunter” or “exotic dingsda” (with the exo weapons). But you are right in reminding me of the luminicense-collection. In these collections were only items you get trough the game or good avalyable vendors. And if I am not mistaken, only if you wanted to finish it as soon as possible you had to deal with RNG.

Yep, I want to discover it ingame too. I blame the little voices in my head, who was wispering something like: “But what if you are to late and it will cost you a ton of gold.” or “If you may be fast enough you can make a huge amount of gold”. You know the tiny little voices who don´t want you to get fast asleep
Yeahyeah, if the mind wander and go crazy without reasons. I think i should relax, lay back and forget about fast gold or something like that. Even if i try, I suck really hard in that kind of sector. I should enjoy the expac in that kind of way, its the most fun for me

Sure the possibility is there but:
Having to spend X amount of gold to directly buy a precursor or spend X amount of gold + completing 3 tabs of collectibles. I fail to see how anyone would go for option 2.
Also I don’t think Anet will kitten up precursor crafting with huge costs since players have been asking for it since early release of the game. After thinking about it, precursor crafting is also something for veterans to push them back into the core of tyria, keeping that content relevant. Don’t think Anet will put a price tag on that.
And if it turns into a second treasure hunter, exotic hunter collection, I won’t be able to think straight for days.

I understand your panic & unwillingness to pay higher price but there are lots of people who play TP and are COUNTING on that whole method. There will be crafting components available on TP and they will sell high. Thats how it works. If you don’t want to pay high prices, farm those mats & sell them… Eventually prices will cool down (couple months or so) and then you can go ahead and buy them.

Will the collections be sellable things? I assumed they’d all be account bound, and hopefully not part of buggy quests.

I kind of hope most of the items will be account-bound, more like Mawdrey or Luminescent armor than an absolute clusterkitten like Treasure Hunter.

It all comes down to a race. I took the day off on Launch Day to rush Precursor Mastery. As soon as I see which items are needed, I’m buying as much as I can to flip.
