Hello,

This was not covered in the post on march 26th, so I thought I’d inquire about it.

I am in the process of creating a legendary at the moment and am getting very close to having in completed (just need to farm some more T6 mats). I already have my precursor and got excited to hear that they will have new skins and that:

“We like to think of these new precursor skins as the legendary weapon before it is embodied by its soul. Unlocking one of these new skins in your wardrobe will also unlock the two previous tiers of skins. So, should you get lucky and find a precursor out in the world, you won’t miss out on the skins.”

However, I am wondering if I should craft my Legendary now, or if I should wait for HoT because I want to unlock the skins for my precursor as well.

I am at an impasse because I really want my Legendary as soon as I can make it (it will be my first), but I don’t want to miss out on unlocking the precursor skin just because I am impatient.

I know I will be able to go through the Mastery track and unlock the skin after HoT drops, but there are several other legendary weapons I want to work on first … and going through all the work of crafting a precursor for a legendary I already have just to get the skins does not sound very exciting.

My suggestion is then, that all the precursor skins unlock for each legendary equipped when HoT comes out. That way people can focus on the Legendary weapons (and precursors) they don’t have first, as opposed to working to make a precursor to a Legendary they already have just to unlock the new precursor skins.
(I mainly want to make my legendary now and enjoy it instead of having to wait for HoT to hit >=} (since I don’t want to be penalized for crafting a legendary just before the expansion and miss out on the new precursor skins))

P.S.
Mind you, I may still want to craft it eventually for the experience and to get the additional tradable precursor:

“This final collection unlocks the recipe to craft the polished final iteration of the precursor. For all of our existing precursors, this is a tradable exotic weapon, but they will all be updated to use new skins that look much like the legendary weapons they’ll one day become. "

However, that would only be for fun (if the process is fun) after I have worked on all the other legendary weapons I want.

It’s my understanding that if a skin uses multiple weapons/skins to create, than they get unlocked if you own the final version.

When the wardrobe changes came out, the precursors for the legendaries I purchased on the TP were unlocked for me, even though I never owned them. I would assume the same will happen with the HoT expansion – I’ll have access to all the precursor skin variations leading up to the final legendary.

I think you might get the previous new precursor skins unlocked but I’m not sure.

What I’m doing is preparing to make a legendary by gathering all the supplies except the precursor. Then once HoT comes out I’ll do the legendary journey to get the precursor and I’ll be good to go with my legendary right after.

I would like to see the precursor skins unlock if you have the original precursor skin, not the legendary. I don’t see how they would differentiate between an original precursor obtained before heart of thorns or after. I’d be ok if I missed out on a couple of skins but I hope not.

The new precursor skins are complete revamps. Those old precursor skins will no longer exist when that update hits since the whole purpose of the update is to make them unique and different from the non-precursor weapons the shared the old skin.

You will automatically unlock the new precursor skin for any precursor you already unlocked. The new skins are replacing the old skins completely so it will still be unlocked it will just look different. The old skins will cease to exist.

…if they take me my hunter away and give me some crappy “sorta” predator for it i will cause a riot. I didnt keep my hunter all these years and completely ignoring its purpose just to have it replaced by some stupid whatever skin. I went to hell and back with my stupid oversized mlg 360 noscope sniper rifle. I dont want any BS knockoff predators arround my inventory.

You know…I read that and completely missed that the first time.

Sorry, lies was probably a bit harsh of a word to use; I wasn’t meaning to imply it was a deliberate attempt to deceive. I had some friends panicking about the Hunter skin a few days ago after someone told them it would be going away and so responding here I kneejerked with a statement more loaded than I ought to have, my bad.

Hey, all good. Regardless, it’s good to have that pointed out that the first two iterations of the precursor in hunt will be based on the current skin and the actual current skin. It’s only the third (tradeable) version that will be a new precursor skin.

And the first tier precursor could be quite interesting too if you like the current precursor skin but it’s too shiny or whatever. I’m looking forward to seeing what the new skins will look like (tier 1 & 3).
