You bought the ultimate edition which is not on sale.

You’re angry something went on sale? It’s unfortunate but it happens. Stuff goes on sale all the time. If you were struggling so much, I’m not sure why you didn’t wait for a sale.

It sucks, yes, but I’m not sure what you expect anyone here to do or say about it?

It’s ok because the Edition you bought is not on sale.
So if you were so dead set on getting the Ultimate Edition (my guess is you were, given your description of basically scraping by so you can buy it) it’s no different.

I do wonder why struggle so much for $100 to buy a game when you could’ve, just bought the Deluxe Edition game and the gems later?

Did you file a support ticket to find out if ANet can offer you any options? If you ask nicely, they can often work something out for people who recently purchased the game. (Although this usually depends on whether you bought it from ANet via DigitalRiver or from some other source.)

dude… you can ask for refund since any purchase is qualify for refund within 30 days. they will only disable the HoT feature for your account, your existing character will stay in tact, only access to HoT is blocked. then, after you get your refund you can repurchase the discounted HoT.

you’ll be surprised what will happen. trust me…

No harm in trying, but reading this thread from the previous sale, Ultimate Edition is exempt from “refund the difference” on purchases made upto 30 days prior to a sale, you also had to have bought standard/deluxe direct from Anet to also qualify for this.
You can refund an account purchase, but this closes the account permanently, since once you’re on a HoT account key, your original game key expires and is erased. There is no decoupling. Which is why Anet refunds the difference on standard/deluxe purchases upto 30days prior of a sale.

OP paid $100 chances are it’s Ultimate Edition, or he was scammed.

That’s not true. You can get a refund without losing your game account. You can’t get partial refunds for an Ultimate Edition, but you can get a full refund.

any purchase of GW2 qualify for refund if the request is made within 30-days of purchase. if you do that, they only revert your account to pre-HoT status, without wiping or resetting your account.
