I’ve spent around 2 hours farming and dying to the smoke scales in AB near the golem HP. In comparison to the other specialization collections, this has taken a significantly longer amount of time than any other I’ve completed even after boosting my magic find to 300%+.

Is there any other way around this? perhaps an event or champion smokescale? The grind is killing me. The fact there are so few mobs and their mechanics are a huge pain to grind. FIX PLS

You will get it if you aren’t trying to grind for it. Tried it and got tired of the horrendous RNG. Randomly just kill a smokescale while walking about for a HP on another character and it drops…

I got mine after about 8 kills. I’ve heard that some people got theirs in less time. RNG is a right kitten sometimes.

Spoon, it’s not specific to the Pristine Scale. I’ve done all 9 elite weapon collections, and I can tell you that I had a few things that took tedious amount of grinding mobs to find. So I was checking the forums and posting my own “wth am I bugged” comments (especially on the Tengu feather, since one has to specially travel to and target Tengu to kill them rather than having them show up in events). I’ve seen pretty much every specialty item highlighted by one person or another as taking too long to get while others post on that item saying it dropped very fast for them.

So it’s RNG. I think most people get most of the items fast and then have to struggle for a few stubborn holdouts. Just keep slaughtering any smokescale you see while you go about your day. It could drop off the very next one!

I spent a whole day chasing smokes with a friend, and none of us got anything. Next day we were both doing our own bussiness separately and got the pristine thing just by tagging a smoke while passing by.

RNG is a smokitch.

Try TD on the hill by scar. There’s about 6 there 2 are veterans, got mine after about 30 minutes. That was after about 20 at the golem in AB.

I sat through 3 AB meta starts before I got mine. After the first hour, someone else came along, helped me kill the smokescales for about 10 mins and said they got the claw. 2 hours into it, my friend came and helped, he got the claw after the third kill.

This happened around January, I’m suprised the RNG is still that bad.

I found mine running to a HP and didn’t know what it was.

I feel your pain OP as this too was the last specalization items I needed among the 9 professions item drops from enemy mob.

In saying so that was the exact spot I grind to get the item since as far as wiki says, they respawn fast and there 3/4 of them when normall there 2 at best.
