Almost cetainly yes, but we dont know when. Episode 5 of season 3s story is due out in the net 2-3 weeks, that would seem a reasonable chance for a discount to appear.
Episode 5 will likely be May 2, which should be revealed tomorrow along with a possible sale.

It’s not a sale. They permanently dropped the price. The funny thing is, it’s been hovering around $30 for over a year now at official 3rd party retailers; DLGamer.us for example.
It seems odd to drop the price now, considering the next expansion will likely be revealed within the next 3 months. They offered 5 months of refunds when HoT was first available for pre-purchase. Either the next expansion is over a year out, they’re no longer going through with their 1 box model, or maybe the pricing rumor was true.

I honestly expect them to drop the 1-box model, because it makes no sense with how the game is designed.
One of the unique benefits of GW2 using horizontal progression is that expansions do not necessarily require previous expansions. Since expacs don’t raise level caps a player doesn’t need all prior expacs to play the most recent.
I’m expecting HoT to remain a package, with expac2 being a separate package, and of course the core game remains f2p just like currently.

That was slightly different, though – the refunds covered the five months after HoT was announced, during which the FAQ said you’d need to buy the original game first to play HoT.
The game is definitely on sale these days. The basic version has cost 45 Euros 2 months ago when I bought it. Now it’s 30.

Alternate theory: in the last earnings call, conversions from free to paid players were lower than expected. This could be an experiment to determine if a slightly lower price point means more purchases, meaning closer to the expected income from conversions.
