I played the beta back when I was still in GW1, I embraced it, I played through all the living story, enjoyed some of the silver wastes even as well as dry top.

I hopped on the beta thinking this will be pretty sweet, I was right, it was fun, for a while. I made it through the first bit of the story you know, before they let you loose into the new area. That’s when the moment of regret happened, I had no idea what was going on, with the massive events happening all around me, what looked like chaos, I just stood there thinking “What in the hell am I to do.” People doing missions all excited like a child in a candy store. I had no idea what was going on, no clue where to go, how to do anything and I felt like I was the poor kid looking at those rich families at the toy store. Was it just me or was there no sense of guidance? Not even a whisper in your ear saying check this out. I kinda liked it at first, “OOOOoooooOOOOO it’s like kitten actually hit the fan, a sense of panic you know!?” then I had to log and drive home, hopped on after work, and “Ok what do I do now? uhhhh… ummmm…. hello?” nothing.

Not a fan really I get that you were going for a sense of chaos and that’s sweet but maybe a bit more of a tutorial of these new skills and abilities like mastery points played for a while trying to figure it out, never did and it turned me off the beta.

anyone else feel anything like this please post so I don’t feel as useless as a Soldier’s Theif Build

LOL I will agree with you for the most part, I couldn’t get into it either (I’m not a fan of Dry Top, Silver Waste, or jumping puzzles) but try to remember this is a beta so all is not as it seems (at least I hope not).

I think I’m going to stay out of the beta’s and just wait for the release, that way I can hopefully avoid the “Oh No” syndrome…..

Smile it makes people wonder what you have been up to =p

I felt that way when I first entered WvW, and again when I first went to the Silverwastes. I kept getting these announcements that things had happened but I had no idea what they meant, where they were or whether it was important to me. There were all these unfamiliar symbols on the map and I didn’t know what I should make of them.

So I just started playing as I normally would, joining in with events, following commanders/groups to get a feel for what everyone else was doing, exploring the map when I saw something that looked interesting etc. I don’t remember exactly when it happened but after a while all the announcements and symbols and things started to make more sense, now I can jump into either and immediately tell from a glance at the map what’s going on and what I should do.

I imagine it’ll be the same with Verdant Brink. Especially once we have access to the other levels and the rest of the map (apparently we’ve seen 25% so far) which may well tie into what we’re doing in the bit we can access.
