It is early! I say as a retired person who tends to sleep in until anywhere from 8:30 to 10 depending on how much my husband’s getting ready to head out to work disturbs me … two decades of being at work by 8:30 am near killed me and I’m still enjoying the rest I get now. (I’m a night person. My brother, he’s up by 6 or 7 am and down for the count by 10 pm but I can stay up much later than that).

But launch is 3 am (eastern) for me so I’ll be napping tomorrow afternoon/evening and setting my alarm for … I dunno. 2 am? Enough time to get ungroggy again and settle in at the keyboard.

I keep worrying they’ll launch early like they did for head start, but since they’re already launching as early on their announced release date as they possibly can and they have scheduled a live stream of it happening, it’s probably not really worth fretting over. But I’ll be sad if I settle in at 2:30 or so, flex my fingers … and boom, it’s been out for hours.

Wish it was Midnight EST like launch. That time works for all the US and a good chunk of Europe.

I expect the HoT content to be downloaded to your client via the stream, depending on how you have the streaming client set…you should be ready to go at 12:01 am PDT…Thursday is Friday at work for me, so home, eat, sleep and up at midnight ready to go all day Friday into Saturday…or at least until I crash at the computer.

Title says it all. Will it be 12:01am Pacific time (3am eastern/real time), or will it drop like an update at a random time throughout the 23rd. If Anet wants to answer go ahead, otherwise we can speculate.

Also the real time thing is a joke. Don’t take it too seriously :P

It’s almost a bit naive if you think that Anet are aiming to bring the servers up at exactly the announced time.

They have done it before and I’m sure, if things work as planned for them, they will go for a surprise early start again. It’s just too good of a tactic to lessen that first massive blow on the servers and while some people might cry foul for a second, getting into the game and seeing how good it is will have a higher priority than complaining.

If things go wrong on Anets end … well, then we will have a delay.

Basically the launch will happen at any time except the announced time!

Yeah, for some reason that timer uses local time.

I’m sure the 200Gb patch will become available for download exactly on time and that I will be the only person trying to download it.

Ah that’s different, when I first looked it was 12 hours, now it’s 22 which is about 07:30 hours for me, that’s better.

I’m not sure if this is a dumb question or not, but is the expansion going to activate at Midnight? I ask because I’m extremely excited, but I also need to know if I’m gonna want to sleep early so I can start playing when I wake up.

Well the problem is, is that time runs faster or slower depending on the speed you are traveling and also the degree of gravitational pull which does vary depending on the thickness of the earth’s crust.

If you could possibly dig all the way through the crust down to the molten lava below and report back the exact thickness I think I can do the necessary calculations and give you a pretty accurate time for your area. Assuming of course a volcano didn’t erupt in your back yard from that and propel you through the atmosphere. I will then need your velocity also for my calculations.

Midnight pacific, so 7 hours after reset.

Yeah, I didn’t bother taking tomorrow off. Launch is 3am my time (eastern). Figure I’ll get up at 5am like normal (yes, that is my normal), start the download, and then go about my standard Friday (chase the kid out of bed, make sure he’s around and on the bus by 630. chase my husband out of bed by 6 so i can chase him out of the house by 645, and finally have me out the door and on my way to work by 7. so much fun… not). More than likely I’ll need to download a bunch of fix-it patches anyway, so no point in using PTO. I’ll just remote into my machine from work and download as necessary so it’s all ready for me. Then tomorrow night after work I can enjoy some Halloween fun.

No, there are less than 24 hours left till launch. It’s presently roughly 630am Pacific 10/22.

It swapped to my timezone and shows 9 hours till launch. It should be around 17 hours till launch. 8am UK time.
