Should I wait for HoT before I 100% map complete with my first character?

I remember reading somewhere that the HoT expansion will give us more stuff to do for PVE, such as completing maps and finding hard to reach areas, getting unique rewards in the process. So my question is, what if you already completed all the maps? Do you get the bonuses that HoT will offer right away or are you just out of luck? I ask because I just reached LVL 80 with my Warrior and I have only 35% map completion. I really want to keep playing as my Warrior and complete the map, but I will be really bummed if I did all this work and not get compensated from the HoT rewards that will be released in 2 weeks. (I cannot wait that long lol).

Hmm. I doubt well get any of the new rewards retroactively. We will get some points and such, but I’d be really surprised to find any items in my mail.

If you really like doing the map completion now, go for it. But leave just one thing in each map undone. Then you can quickly finish everything. And you will have the Hero Points if you want to try the new spec.

Good questions MH. I’ve been mulling over what I plan to do in that regard as well.

Personally, based on the information provided on the precursor crafting journey (https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/a-legendary-journey/) and the Tyria based mastery track (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Pact_Tyria_mastery_track), it would appear wise to wait till HoT launches to work on your world completion. Simply because, these mastery tracks will be “trained” and unlocked by earning new levels while doing things in Tyria — not in the HoT new maps.

Save yourself time and effort and wait just a few short weeks, so you can accomplish all this stuff at the same time as you explore throughout Tyria. That’s what seems to make sense to me.

Mastery points are account based so surely if you’ve already completed absolutely everything with all your characters starting a new Revenant will give you access to acquiring them all anyway?

Any new map completing and finding hard to reach areas with the release of HoT surely refers to the new maps and not core maps.

Thus, finish the maps or no…up to you.

What will become available in the core maps is XP for Mastery Lines and the new Map Rewards (which is a mat or other item that will ‘drop’ approximately every other event/activity/task [sans Renown Hearts] that your character does).
