We can’t do this yet, we don’t know what playstyles will be promoted in raids and if support (healing) roles will be heavily useful or even required.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
If they remember to add condition mobs and bosses necro and rev.
The Dhuumfire thread
Even if I understand the fundamentals of build design beyond “oooh, shiny trait,” I still don’t think I’d have enough data to begin to figure this out now. What are the boss’ attacks? How much cc has to be applied how fast? How flexible do the builds need to be? Which masteries will help, which will be vital? Are the raids designed so any profession can fill the needed roles? I know they don’t want people to have to wait for that one key person to show up, so if it turns out a raid must have five Guardians, well, I presume they will then tweak the raid to change that.
Remember, Colin said they would have some linear raids but also that there would be dynamic-event style ones. So things might mix it up a bit and not be the same every time you enter the instance.

How about one of every class + one random extra?
The part about raids being designed so any profs can fill the needed roles, will probably be held true by their philosophy, however some classes can do certain things better than others.
Just like the current dungeons… it can be done with 5 rangers… it just won’t be as fast or worthwhile (due to time) as meta compositions…

According to the trailer that’s 1 more Ranger than you need =P
10 elementalists

At minimum you’ll need 2 guards for heals/reflects/defensive boons/dps and 2 PS warriors for offensive boons, offensive buffs and dps. Since buff limit is a hard technical limit of 5 players this is simply a requirement.
That last 6 slots will depend on the type of content.
If there are hard dps checks with enrage timers then you will need at least 2 ele’s. If there are no dps checks then 6 bunker guards or 6 bunker necros will guarantee a raid completion even if it takes a while.

I’m sure we’ll have plenty of time for this kind of conversation after we get a bit more informed?
We know about as much about Raids now, as we did during the IGN leak.
10 daredevils, dodge the boss to death, then stealth for cooldowns, repeat
Well even by this small talk, we can see guards will be needed…

We know a bit more especially with the trailer. It’s an 1 instance, 10-man and the mechanics it seems of one of the WoW bosses (jump off the platform and back on when the ability has finished) and will be available 2 weeks after HoT is live.

Do you honestly feel like we’ve been given such a command understanding we can hold this discussion non-ironically?
How about one of every class + one random extra?
This is what I’ll be doing >:3
(With 2 Rangers). Take that elitists.
