Generaly i like all specs for the most part, low ranking doesnt mean bad.
I dont care for engi and dont even really know what scrapper does so thats why its last. DD is so low just because im still disapointed at the staff animations (holding it like a hammer and no martial arts vibe), daredevil should go up as soon as i get over that
Druid top is not recency bias, its just so well designed imo. Reaper is right up there too. Those two clearly stand out imo and are above other 7

Because 3 years of constant hack n slash and no roles at all, got boring for every semi-serious player super fast.

Why so much “love” for reaper? Yes, very good for solo clearing, but why would you take it in a group? Its just a selfish (well in comparison with other dps classes) dps class.
Its definatelly far from being on the top elite specs…
Class A (Useful, Distinct, Fun)
1. Herald
2. Scrapper
3. Druid
4. Chronomancer
5. Reaper
Class B (Ok-ish…)

+1,
Top 5 will be seen a lot, 6/7 will be seen a bit but not nearly as useful (although I can see Berserker making its way to the class A). 8 and 9 will be kicked once you notice what they are running. But hopefully that changes.

I fail to see how reaper is an A class spec. Why would I want a reaper in my group/raid. What can they bring to the group that others cant do better?
Man, Tempest needs work…

25 vuln, burning, crazy tank and self sustained damage/25 might with near 100% crits. Even if it doesnt provide others boons, it hits like a truck and can stand out front and keep the agro. I’d be more then happy to have one in group.

Providing the game will stay as it is and jack of all trades will be viable… Cause if its not, there are better dps and better tank specs out there and now we also have healers.
1) Druid – as a main ranger, it doesn’t include everything I wanted but it got real effort in it and seems really good, hands down.
2) Herald
3) Scrapper
4 ) Reaper
5) Chronomancer
6) Berserker
7) Dragonhunter
8) Tempest
9 ) Daredevil(feels just clunky and disappointing)
1. Daredevil
This is how Elite Specs in my opinion should work. Take something from the ground class and make it big. So that the differences in Gameplay are underlined. Also has lots of Synergies in the spec and with other specs of the thief.
2. Druid
Also a nice well rounded concept. Sadly no real synergy with the ranger. But bonus points because of the completly new angle.
3. Berserker
4. Reaper
Also nice. Taking one point (Reaper for example the chill) and focussing on that. New cool ways of playing the class without feeling like you play something totally different.
5. Scrapper
6. Herald
Also have both a cool theme, but didnt appeal from gamplay as much as the others.
7. Chronomancer
Really cool idea, but i think the the new skills are basically just boring AoEs. The Time aspect is only in the f5 and the new boon visible. I would really like if Anet brings more play to the wells. Would increase the rating to at least 3.
8. Tempest
Dont really see the concept behind it.
9. Dragon Hunter
The opposite of how a Elite spec should work. Has no connection to the Guardian. Has not really a clear theme…..
1) Chrono (lots of thought went into this and you can tell with the interesting new tools, the synergy with base Mesmer and it can be used in so many interesting ways)
2) Herald
3) Reaper
4) Berserker
5)Daredevil
6) Scrapper
7) Tempest
8) Dragonhunter
9) Druid (No thought went into this and you can tell the lack of interesting skills, all skills basically being an aoe heal with no variation or diversity, no synergy with base Ranger, no synergy between staff and its mechanic and just 1 shallow way to use the line)
1. Druid \o/
2. Herald
3. Reaper
4. Scrapper
5. Berserker
6. Daredevil
7. Chronomancer
8. Tempest
9. Dragonhunter
1) Herald
2) Reaper
3) Chrono
4) Druid
5) Scrapper
6) Berserk
7) Tempest
8) Dragonhunter
9) DareDevil
C’mon Karl, you can do better
1.) Chrono
2.) Herald
3.) Reaper
4.) Druid
5.) Berserker (I see a ton of potential in this one)
6.) Scrapper
7.) Tempest
8.) Dragonhunter
9.) Daredevil
1. Druid
2. Reaper
3. Chronomancer
4. Daredevil
5. Berserker
6. Tempest
7. Dragonhunter
8. Herald
9. Scrapper
Scrapper is just anti-synergetic by its whole concept.
1.Druid (more positioning-base skills with staff, and heals!)
2.Reaper (awesome low-mobility melee playstyle)
3.Dragonhunter (more ranger-style stuff, yay!)
4.Herald (makes revenant work)
5.Tempest (overloads allows mixing range and melee, which ele was missing)
6.Scrapper (might solve some of engineer’s design downsides)
7.Daredevil (still rough design, but has promise)
8.Berserker (clunky, too much about watching timers and bars)
9.Chronomancer (even more convoluted than base mesmer – no thanks)
@Yelloweyedemon Aside from the fact reaper feels rather completed, Because the game is incredibly friendly for the casual solo player and you’re assuming that everyone in the population even cares about group-play.
Infact, I would argue most people play open world content and just group up for the fun of it because you can literally run around without traits if you wanted to in the open world.
1) Reaper- Very thematic not that I care too much about that, I am more interested in its facility of murdering multiple melee ranged foes for WvW.
2) Chronomancer- Interesting gw1 throwback with a pretty powerful mechanic and set of traits.
3) Herald- Good blend of passive/active play potential but its traits could be better.
4) Berserker- Decent Powerbuilds with Robert Gee’s BWE teaser stuff should be doable
5) Scrapper- I don’t agree with Melee weapons shouldn’t be one of the higher dps weapons, Nano-Machines son.
6) Tempest- Overloads, im over them. Warhorn to me feels kind of like an afterthought and pushing auramancer, a style i hate to play isn’t appealing to me.
7) Druid- Healing’s not my cup of tea and I am concerned how these players will scale “time limit based events”
8) Dragon-Hunter-Clunky and boring traps could have been really awesome. Xerath and Varus both can move and fire their linear nukes its really pathetic imo that Dragon hunter has to pop a squat to fire their’s.
9) Daredevil-Clunky unimaginative and traits are poorly done for a “Stealth-less spec intent” Things like palm strike or fist flurry could have been weaved into steal somehow with traits. The Dev who thinks condition removal is situational in Gw2 is sorely misinformed as its always needed/useful.
1: Reaper – Unmitigated kittenery, just pure fun.
2: Druid – Very interesting, i can’t wait to try it as a pure support char and a kiter
3: Herald – Can’t really imagine the Rev without it, really enjoyed microing resources
4: Scrapper – Some unique new stuff! Seems like fun
5: Berserker – Really like the fast pace
6: Chronomancer – Don’t really play Mesmer but it seems very powerful
7: Daredevil – It was fun and the concept is cool but i think it needs a lot of polish
8: Dragonhunter – When i tried this i asked myself, what the hell is this for? What is it’s purpose and how does it fit in with the rest of the Guardian? Beyond giving the class a bow and another ranged option just because, i couldn’t come up with an awnser.
9: Tempest – Plays like a regular ele while putting limitations on the mechanic that make ele’s fun and interesting. No thank you…
So because I’m a stats nerd, I decided to figure out the average ranking based on everyone in this thread. I assigned each rank a point (1 getting 9 points, 2 getting 8, etc.), then averaged those. The highest average you could get is 9, lowest 1. Then, the ranking is:
1) Druid (8.4)
2) Reaper (7.2)
3) Herald (6.7)
4) Chronomancer (6.6)
5) Scrapper (5.4)
6) Berserker (3.8)
7) Daredevil (3.4)
8) Tempest (3.3)
9) Dragonhunter (2.1)
_________________________________
My own opinion would have to be
1) Druid
2) Tempest
3) Reaper
4) Scrapper
5) Chronomancer
6) Herald (I’m hesitant to give this a high rank because we don’t know how well the Revenant works over time without its elite)
7) Berserker
8) Daredevil
9) Dragonhunter
1. Herald
2. Reaper
3. Chronomancer
4. Druid
5. Scrapper
6. Tempest
7. Berserker
8. Daredevil
9. Dragonhunter
Mh, let’s see….
1. Druid – Awesome in every way.
2. Herald – Awesome in every way.
3. Reaper – Great fun to play.
4. Chronomancer – Great fun, not enough new skills though.
5. Daredevil – Fun to play, but needs improvements.
6. Berserker – Ok, nothing too exciting.
7. Scrapper – Ok, nothing too exciting.
8. Dragonhunter – Traps and new class mechanics aren’t that great.
9. Tempest – Dislike the overcharge mechanics.
