Out of those three, I personally had more fun with the Druid. I used to play a Healer in other MMOs for years, so I was quite curious about the Druid. I have an 80 Ranger that runs longbow & s/a. My druid ran staff & s/a. I used longbow and staff for a little bit, but switched to the melee combo instead of 2 ranged. By myself, the staff was, well, boring. But when I ran with friends, and when I did the Leg Wyvern fight in the canopy, I started to see the staff’s potential. I think one of my favorite things to do was: staff #3 (wisp) —> land/heal, switch weps, axe #5, sword #2 to bounce back away and switch back to staff. The Druid (and the DragonHunter) I got to play when I had more free time on Sunday.

Reaper, I was excited about, playing a Necro. I had limited time to play so she didn’t get too much exposure. Being in a hurry, I felt a bit clunky learning all the new things. My first group event, I sorely missed my DS#4

Revenant, played a bit with dwarven and assassin stance. Definitely something I am going to want to play from the ground up when I have more time. The above 2, I already had a lvl 80 Live side, so I knew the majority of how they worked. I knew most of the utilities without having to read every time to find out what did what. When stuff hit the fan, I could rely on weps swap to save my behind with weps I were more familiar with. The Rev, everything was new, and being on a time crunch this weekend, I just didn’t have the time to figure out how everything meshed together, so like the Reaper for me, I felt clunky. No synergy. But I suspect that was me, not the Rev. I was more or less just hitting 1-5 buttons going “what does this do?” while trying out different utilities. It seemed to have decent survivability, but I was no Rytlok screaming over the cliff to annihilate everything in my path.

Reaver is great. Just takes a little practice on keeping them alive. Has lots of skills that put buffs on you and puts negitive buff on you enemies. And the more enemies around you, the more destruction you dish out. Making you a torturing power house.

Even the new heal heals you and stucks life from enemies around you. So the more around you when you heal, the more you heal. And the new Reaper transformation is so much fun, very powerful, and it looks really freakin cool.

These things are capable of being facetanks without a lot of effort and it is glorious.

I would say it depends greatly on what you’re idea of fun is. I didn’t play Reaver nor Druid, but I find Revenant to be a lot of fun. The ability to swap utility is pretty cool and with the right weapon it has a huge amount of mobility, jumping forward and back.

As for the Revanant. I found the Revanant to be lots of fun and easy to use, yet hard to master. It’s rather different then a Reaper. Lots of mobility. Like skills that let you bounce out of combat range, if your getting hit too hard and other skills that let you jump right back in for surprise attacks when your ready.

Really this class is like a jack of all trades class, that happens to lean toward the tank side. Revs, like Reapers, have have life steal heals, ally heals, ally buffs, I mean really lots of support skills, torment skills, a great haste skill, and they can shadow step like a thief. One of me fav skills is sword skill 3. It makes you shadow step and attack all enemies around you really fast. It’s the same skill Rytlok uses in one of the earlier promo trailers for HoT.

You also get a good deal of condition removal skills and a powerful AoE that lasts for quite a while and by the time if stops, it’s already off cool down to be used again. My 2 fav weapon sets are staff and dual swords.

Swords give you 2 shadow stepping skills, 2 vulnerability skills, a chill, and even a nice block skill. Very fun to use. While staff on a Rev reminds me of a Monk with a staff. Also very cool and lots of fun. Like a Monk should be, Rev staff has a heal that heals allies and lots of control skills. Like blind, knock back, and a daze skill. So lots of enemy control. it’s animations are great too, again, very monk like. The hammer is nice for range attacks. Hammer skill 3 lets you leap threw the mists to an enemy and pull them to where you were last at. Pretty darn cool and good for crowd control.

As for the other weapon sets. I can see where they would be useful, but they just didn’t feel as fun to me as the others. But that’s just me.

Now what really separates the Rev from the other professions, is their new Legendary stance system. It gives the ability to have more then 1 utility set of skills and 2 heals that you can switch between using the profession skill 1 key. It’s very much like switching between your 2 weapon sets on the fly. I think this is what will make Revanants most hard to master. Now you have 2 rows of skill keys you can switch in and out, instead of just 1 in combat. With 5 different utility sets and heals to choose from.

A lot of switching and diversity to keep up with. But it’s going to be interesting to see all the crazy skill combinations people will come up with threw this system. It opens up another interesting window as well, where like the weapon skill bar, if all your utility skills are on cool down, simply switch them out to a set all ready to go. I used this a lot with my 2 heals in big fights, making it pretty hard for me to die. Like with the big new Wyvern boss fight.

Reaper and Druid are both incredibly fun to play, if for different reasons. With new traits and staff mobility Druid is probably the fastest landspeed class in the game now. It seriously trucks. Its rewarding to burst into a battle with an AOE heal for allies and then dish out some damage. The stuns and crowd control Druid is capable of are great and the heals are very good but not at the sacrifice of decent damage. Overall the druid provides a rewarding blend of hybrid support/damage that I don’t see in other classes.

Reaper plays exactly like I imagined it should. The horror movie theme prevails in it. In the Necro from you are nothing amazing, doing what you can to survive, slowly gaining life force over a period of time. When you pop the shroud though you become a terrifying demon of obliteration turning foes into embers (I carry Dhuumfire with reaper) and dishing out insane amounts of damage. Sure the melee range is limiting but that is why the Reaper is so fun. As an opponent of the reaper it has that horror movie feel that you are only inches away from death and one mess up then you are dead.

I could recommend either one strongly.

All of these profession/specializations have their pro and cons.
- Revenant :
A well tuned profession with a pretty awesome dynamic. Thought, not all the legends are as fun to use. If you enjoy easy support and straight forward gameplay, this profession is for you.

- Reaper :
A gruesome specialization that set the necromancer into a mele specialist. If you do not want to bother with supporting other and want to still hit like a truck, it’s for you.

- Druid :
Your pet bred your ranger with a necromancer and you’ve became a Druid. Direct non lasting support and CC are your thing? If it is then you’ll enjoy the Druid.

No core profession should be balanced around an optional elite specialization.

Can u guys rank them according to the level of awesomeness and fun

First, to answer:
DragonHunter :P ha, had to! ,
Druid,
Reaper,
Revenant
(according to what I did in Beta, so not much there.)

Before Elite specs:
Necro,
Ranger
.
.
.
.
.
.
Guardian (notice how far down Guard is, whereas Dragonhunter was my fave, although not on your original list)

*and obviously Rev doesn’t exist until 10/23 *

But…
What is fun to one person is not the same level of fun to another. My husband and I both have Necros. We play them very differently from each other. We both have Rangers. I see a ranger as well… ranged. He loathes bows for some reason. Could not get into what I was calling a “fun” profession for map completion/exploring until he tried out axes. To me, melee is almost a foreign concept for Ranger. I am excited for Druids, because I played healer for many many years in trinity games. It bugs me to watch the group dying and there is pretty much nothing I can do to help. So to have a healing spec that might actually make a difference? You bet I am geeked. My husband? The sound he made was similar to a cat hacking up a hairball at the thought of healing. Between his dislike of bows and aversion to healing, he wasn’t that thrilled with DragonHunter, either. He loves leveling a Guardian, tho, where I just wanna get the hero points banked, pop tomes on her and wait to be reborn a Dragonhunter.

Want to be awesome? Even if you went to meta builds and looked for the biggest powerhouse… unless that playstyle is similar to your best playstyle, you won’t perform the same.

For EXAMPLE Let’s say that the best necro is one that uses wells. Forget the pets, forget daggers, give me a staff and bring on the little neon circles of death and destruction! But wait. You love the idea of pets. You love daggers (or an axe) and being right up in the monster’s face, wincing at their morning breath. The thought of minions that you can have do your dirty work for you is awesome to you. You can’t stand Wells. At all. Will you be the best Wells Necro as someone that really gets into that particular playstyle?

For me its the Revenant. Or Herald more specifically. Amazing for group play and the energy management is a lot better over the thief style of initiative as you have more control.

I ran with Sword/Shield and Hammer with Glint and Shiro as legends. You need the shield as they provide a part of your healing next to Facet of light that is more there for regen and the enchanted daggers that lack a strong instant heal as well. Sword Provides the damage you need and hammer the range.

Glint has a lot of group support bringing either boon duration, regen, fury, swiftness, might and protection or a mix of some with some nice actives. Using Facet of strength to build up might and then using the active once the group can sustain 25 stacks gives a nice amount of vulnerability and frees up energy to use for other skills.

The reason I use Shiro is for engaging from far away mostly and with nice burst of supper speed with quickness for the times you just need to run, fight fast or scrape a teammate of the ground as quickly as possible

Missed out on loot in dungeons for the weekend, but had a lot of fun with a class I know will be my main as soon as it’s available.

Druid was the most fun for me because of the healing aspect. I like bunker builds that give me sustain. this worked well for me and I had a lot of fun.

Herald (Rev’s Spec) was fun for me because I also went bunker with it. I enjoyed shield despite the rooting. I could take damage for days and barely ever have to worry about HP.

Repear was fun for me because of the animations of GS. It feels swift to swing too. I tried a condi / power hybrid on it and it was crazy fun.

It all depends on how you like to play. I like a bit of everything.

I do think Reapers are extremely fun… it MAY be my new main in HoT. The Druid I think a close 2nd. Unfortunately I’m just not that excited about the Berserker and I’m sure I’ll try a Revenant for a bit.

I play mainly on a laptop and the majority of my time in game is while I’m at work or in the middle of doing other things, so I rarely group and I’m more of a roamer/havoc WvW player. The classes and builds I typically run are always self sustaining and are bulky/speed so I can run around without wasting time in travel. Permanent speed has always been a priority. I run Traveler runes on everyone unless there is a trait in place that allows me permanent speed (Warrior 25% speed with melee weapons, etc.). When looking for a new main, I was really interested when I saw the new classes. Permanent swiftness on Herald would free up all of my runes and I could build around something new! Druid, with permanent swiftness/speed when not movement impaired was also very tempting.

In BWE2, I played the Herald/Shiro DPS/Tank roaming in WvW. It was a fabulous class and was very fun to play. It has a ton of utility and support and can flip-mode to a facetank DPS monster in the blink of an eye. I had highly regarded it as my new main once HoT goes live. It has about everything I would look for.

Fast forward to BWE3

I created a Druid because I like the archetype from other games. I didn’t go the healer route, but went for a selfish control/condi/power build. It was a ton of fun to the point that I’m highly considering going Druid in HoT. It had permanent speed, bulky pets, dazes galore, and tons of bleed/immobilize. Not to mention I can Staff wisp away and swap to greatsword and double leap away to gain my permanent swiftness. Very very great travel class. I’m really looking forward to un-retiring my Ranger.

I fought against many Reapers and I will say that they absolutely dominated people, even when outnumbered. There are some ridiculous sustain/bulky builds out there that can utterly destroy stuff. Getting hit with a Gravedigger for 10-12k is very hard to take, not to mention it recharges instantly if you are low on health and get hit. The new Shroud has some great abilities and hits hard! I created a Reaper just to play around a bit (only tried for 20-30 minutes maybe) and it was a very fun class. I can see there being Reapers in abundance once people see what they are capable of.

It all comes down to what kind of a character you like to play and what kind of abilities/perks you are looking for.

Ashen Mistwalker: WvW Tank/Crit Revenant

Dépends on what class you prefer to play in the vanilla game.

I am first and foremost a necro player so the reaper has my preference.

I still struggle with rangers so I didn’t have the time (and the motivation) to play a druid during BWE3.

I enjoyed the revenant a lot. To me this class feels like a guardian when played in PvE. Not saying they are the same but the synergies with a group are kinda similar.

Which one these class are the most fun to play and what is their similarities and differences, pros and cons

These are my favourite 3 classes and I played a lot with all of them. I will give you a PvE/ Raid perspective.

Reaper

  • Hands down the most enjoyable if you like dps and scythe animations in reaper shroud
  • Very high solo dps (because easy to get 25 vuln and might)
  • Poor condi dps, dhummfire builds are nice but gimmicky
  • Can get high crit rates so can sacrifice zerker gear for valkyrie/ cavalier
  • Group dps (where everyone has might/vuln), reaper dps is decent (no where near the top).
  • As reaper’s don;t bring much utility, they will struggle for zerker raid spots but we will have to see what other bosses are like in the raid/ more people play them before we get a true meta comp

Druid

  • Hands down best healer
  • More responsive than ventari’s tablet mechanism and bigger heals
  • Low dps
  • Much slower to solo as you have to rely on pet for dps
  • Very fun for support players as you can literally save many allies
  • Good support options e.g. spotter, spirits, warhorn
  • Will likely have a raid position

Revenant

  • Very high dps with sword (much more than reaper in raids)
  • Excellent support through Glint (lots of boons)
  • Excellent defensive options make them hard to kill (2 blocks, full heal etc)
  • Not as mobile as some classes (have perm swiftness) but the shadow steps need a target and the roll will require you to turn camera
  • Easy to solo stuff, same as reaper but because RS is technically a free damage reduction I preferred dpsing with RS
  • Will almost certainly have a place in raids
  • Big weakness in PvE is limited stun breaks and there are many creatures/ bosses in HoT that cc.

Yeah, but ideally you don;t really want drop out of shiro with a lot of energy left for the stun break. It’s better than nothing though.

Condi reaper is much lower dps than the zerker version, and lower than s/x necro too. Dhummfire from RS is decent for PvP/ soloing, but when you put 5-6 ticks of burning for 4-5k dps whilst that engie is putting 11k ticks in addition to 4k bleeds, poison etc you see where i’m going.

Also, if you use RS for dhummfire, you have little access to bleeds.

Basically there are quite a few condi class builds ahead of necro that they’d struggle for that position.

There have been suggestions they could take the tank role – they have some tools for this but my personal experience (I actually did tank in the raid as a reaper) is RS dps is lower than d/x or GS so you’re losing a chunk of dps. When mob is below 50% it’s hard to use GS 2 (Grave digger) because when it locks you in place you are in danger of taking a ton of damage which is a much bigger dps loss. To compound this, you can’t be healed in RS, have low protect uptime, low armour, no taunt, less damage mitigation traits than other classes.

Basically, why take a tank necro when Rev’s and engie’s can do the same and still hit harder than full zerker reapers.

You may be able to complete the raids with 1 or 2 reapers max, but you will be cutting the timers very close because of the huge dps loss compared to taking some of the higher dps/ support characters.

In contrast, replacing the reapers for say 2 rev’s will result in much faster kills and give teams a buffer to correct mistakes because of the higher dps = buffer time. Don;t forget rev’s will also bring a ton of boons/ support (e,g, 150 ferocity), something reapers sorely miss.

I like reapers, I just don;t think many raid groups will take them.

I couldn’t even keep my pet alive playing as a druid. Druid can DIAF. I have never and will never play a “pure healer”. Support is one thing. Tanking is one thing. Those are fine. I love my ranger dearly and it kills me to see on the surface what Druid is. Right now I hate it so very much. I’m not good at theory crafting by looking at stuff on paper or reading what this does and how it works. I need hands on practice and seeing myself how things play with one another. The little bit I got to play with Druid. It hits like a moldy wet noodle and I couldn’t even keep my pet alive so how is that helpful? I’ve poured so much work into my ranger and right now I can’t even look at her because I’m just so angry with the Druid spec.

Reaper though, is so much fun and I can’t wait for that.

Rev/Herald I didn’t play much with it. I don’t know the class yet so I can’t say one way or the other.

I really feel bad that you didn’t have fun with the Druid khani. I had a blast and had no problem dealing damage or keeping my pet alive. My ranger is my main and I love playing him.

Maybe it was just the way you had your specs and equipment distributed. Whatever it is, I really hope you find a way to like the druid as much as I have.
