“Refund of core game purchase

In addition to our standard 30 day refund policy on game purchases, we’re offering automatic refunds to all players who purchased the core Guild Wars 2 game through buy.guildwars2.com or in-game during the months leading up to pre-purchase. All accounts that meet the following criteria will receive an automatic refund for Guild Wars 2 core game purchases:

The core Guild Wars 2 serial code was purchased from buy.guildwars2.com or in-game and applied to your account between January 23, 2015 and June 16, 2015
The Heart of Thorns serial code was pre-purchased from buy.guildwars2.com or in-game and applied by July 31, 2015

Refunds will be for the full amount of the core game purchase (for example, if you purchased the core game for $10, you’ll get a $10 refund).
Refunds can only be applied to the method of payment used to make the core game purchase. If the method of payment you used is expired, closed, or otherwise unavailable, a refund will still be processed to that account. You will need to contact your financial institution to determine how the funds can be sent back to you. We are unable to process refunds for purchases made with paysafecards.
We will begin refunding accounts on July 12, 2015, and approximately once per week after that until the first week of August. Once your refund is processed, it may take up to five days to appear on your statement."

Do we need to pre-order Heart of Thorns first or do we get the refunds anyway? Also how do we see when we made our account/bought the game?

You don’t qualify.

I’m basing this on you asking now as the deadline was to apply the pre-purchase of the expansion to your account by 7/31/15 and you would have received the refund by now if it applied to you.

If you bought the core game within the last 30 days, you can refund that and pre-purchase the expansion.
