Remember the Ritualist and Paragon?
Pretty sure I saw a thread identical to this one yesterday. Ritualist was hands down my favourite profession in GW1, but I’m pretty sure they worked it into the Revenant, so I highly doubt we’ll see it come back as it’s own thing.
Gameplay wise the Ritualist has been reincarnated partly into the ENgineer, with its fixed turrets (spirits) and waepon kits (bundles).
Paragons were ranged shout/party buffers. A Warrior with Banners and a few shouts can basically fill this role.
Revenants are the spritiual (pun intended) sucessors, but from a gameplay mechanic are completely different.
So they are with us, in a sense.
Remember monks? :0
The monk was one of my mains, it would completely kick kitten in this game now! haha I remember the Dervish being the most overpowered in guild wars 1. Definitely wouldn’t mind seeing some new builds, revenant doesn’t quite do it for me…
My favorite thing about the Paragon was hurling javelins at my enemies. So satisfying! I wish they would bring back throwing spears as a weapon. The closest we have right now is the Guardian’s underwater spear auto-attack skill, but I’d love a land based spear like that.
Guardian = paragon + monk
Revenant = ritualist + warrior
I remember vicious spear chuckers, yes.
Remember Splinter Weapon + Barrage.
I think they are saved for Catha and Elona xpc.
Guardian = paragon + monk
Revenant = ritualist + warrior
Revenant is more dervish with it’s so called avatar forms
Ritualist is the engineer replace spirits with turrets and kits for the rits carried bundles it goes farther but the mechanics are there.
The guardian has a single skill that flame virtue that falls under the paragon mechanic line no other skill exists. Even the guardians shouts are warrior shouts as one has to remember the warrior had many shouts. The Paragon worked on a reactionary system with echoes, chants, and shouts doing things like energy per hit, all members can inflict cripple with their next hit, or all effective gain health or weakness with their next hit. When a shout or chant is renewed or expires on a character more effects would go off as well.
The Paragon exists in a single skill in this game the character inflict burning and thus it’s the least represented of the GW1 classes.
I dont see why Revenant’s couldn’t get Ritualist as an Elite spec. Give them access to Daggers, or Scepters, and give them access to minion skills like the Necromancer, and just make them rooted to the ground like the Necromancer’s Necrotic Wurm minion. Have the healing skill be a minion, call it Spirit of Preservation, and have it heal allies with a pulsing wave of light. There is just millions of different ways the Ritualist could be brought about in this game. If not Ritualist, I’m sure Guardian, ir if they have to really push it, Necromancers. However I believe they are just waiting for the right moment to release the spect anyways, as the class was really only specific to Cantha. So unless we get something Canthan related, I dont think it will become possible. I remember reading somewhere that Anet has no intention on releasing new classes, just new specializations.

The necromancer reaper feels a lot like a dervish actually.
My main solo farming toon was a spirit spam Ritualist, although I designed spirit spam builds for all other classes too. Even Warriors and Paragons could do a decent job providing they used the right skill order to initially set up the spirits.
The Engineer is the nearest alternative in GW2 but simply doesn’t feel the same. The Ritualist had to use tactics to keep it’s spirits from being overwhelmed, moving them when an enemy got too close. Spirits could provide most of the fire power of the Ritualist, turrets, as they are, will never do that for the Engineer.
The Reaper in death shroud has the feel and some of the look of the Dervish, worth trying.
Anybody who played the original guild wars remember the classes Ritualist and Paragon? Do you think they would make a good addition to the game now? I remember them being quite powerful before. Very doubtable anet will put them back in, but one can hope!
The PvP titles for Guardian and Revenant are Champion Paragon and Champion Ritualist respectively.
