May we get additional recipes for mystic curios that use Deldimor steel ingots and Spirit wood planks as ingredients? So theoretical recipe would be 5 ingots and 5 planks + a vial of might, which would give 40 curios, or, some value to be determined. Currently, the mithril and the elder wood log market is out of control because two legendaries were dropped at the same time. Although it wouldn’t alleviate the entirety of the problem, it does make the system more resilient in the future.

The high prices are falling back down. There doesn’t need to be a new recipe just to handle the spike when something is newly released. All it will do is cause that new recipe to be worthless a few weeks later once prices have settled.

There are massive amounts of mithrils nodes all over the place not to mention all the mithril from salvaging armors and weapon …

As for elder wood, I guess there is always pagga’s and prices should be back to previous prices in a week or two anyway.

While I don’t think they need a new recipe, I do think its strange to require mithril and elder wood both to craft the curio and then to also use the curio to craft the shard of ______ for whatever weapon you want. Its weird to double up on mithril/elder wood like that imo

My assumption is so that it maintains a high price for the legendaries but also a material that can easily be farmed and/or obtained naturally by playing the game.

Sure but the better question here is, why so much ?

The sheer amounts of elder/mithril is kinda absurd for farming… But just barely reasonable if you’re playing other modes and buying it.

It’s not really all that strange. They wanted the shards to cost a certain amount of elder wood and mithril. If you are making both yourself the total would have been the same no matter how they decided to split them between the two recipes.

The more interesting question would be why is it split into two recipes …

To maintain the high cost so that it’s comparable to other legendary weapons. The amount of elder/mithril really isn’t that much of an issue when you look at what other legendary weapons require. At least this way, players have a way to directly farm the materials which are very very accessible.

Let me rephrase this so maybe it makes a bit more sense.

Can we not keep the cost high, while simultaneously not crushing and already used market by demanding an inane amount of one or two materials ?

I happen to believe they very well could have done just that, as is there’s several markets that are under utilized. Things like Ori (whose price is less than Plat), or Gossamar/Silk (granted these aren’t weapon specific materials), Gold/Silver (again not directly weapon specific but could be used as justification for some of the ornate designs).

This is of course all the while keeping in mind that they’ve moved away from the original series 2 Legendary journey. It just feels like a cheap solution when they could otherwise find ways to make things a retain cost while changing different materials to open up markets as opposed to saturating existing ones.

Sure. We could need to use a variety of materials. The situation we have now is only an issue because they released two legendaries at once with one being very popular. This was not an issue for the other four. This will likely not be an issue in a few more weeks once prices have settled.

Fair enough, we’ll have to wait and see if this is more a long term problem or not.

Not quite what I meant, Khisanth got it though I think.

Why split the mithril and elder wood into 2 recipes? Why not just have 1 recipe require them in higher amounts, and remove them from the other?

As it stands now, you can bypass needing stacks and stacks of mithril and elder wood by buying teh curios off the TP, but then you turn around and still need stacks and stacks to craft the shards. Why not have the entire mithril/elder wood cost in the shards? Or have the entire mithril/elder wood cost in the curios so that you could not require any stacks of elder wood/mithril in your inventory to craft your shards? I just don’t like how its split up into 2 recipes like this.

Might be to help stabilize the market.

In the period between releases it helps to keep the materials from dropping too low by having people buy them to craft curios while materials are cheap. When a new weapon is released those previously crafted curios help to restrain the spike in demand by offering a buffer. The prices would still rise but not as much. The people doing it would make a nice profit which serves as motivation for them to keep doing it.

Now you could argue that the can could be done with just one recipe as well but I think there are more people willing to hold on to a few hundred curios than people who are willing to hold on to tends of thousands of ingots, planks and t5s.

Why does it matter that you need some mithril/elder in one recipe and some more in another? You’d prefer if all of the mithril/elder requires for shards to be put in either the curio or shard recipe but not both?

@Khisanth – That’s a good point I hadn’t considered. Splitting it up into 2 recipes probably does help keep from spiking the markets as much as they otherwise would if the entire cost was in the shards.

@Ayrilana – I just think its weird is all.
