I searched for a similar topic, but was unable to find one. If there is one, feel free to link it. For those that missed the news post you can find it here: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/rethinking-guilds/

The main point I would like to discuss is in the final section of that post on rethinking guild structure. Speicifically the idea of being able to use all five of your guild slots because there will no longer be a need to 100% rep guilds.

On one hand, influence won’t be a thing anymore. On the other, participation in frequent guild events (WvW raids, Dungeon Nights, Holiday Parties, what have you) might be threatened.

It would be great to hear from some guild leaders out there on what they think of these new systems and ideas. Do you think you will allow members to participate in more than one guild? Or will the 100% rep rule still be required? Are you still thinking about it?

And I would like to hear from some guild members as well. Are you excited by the idea of joining multiple guilds? Will you be looking to have your WvW guild, PvE guild, and PvP guild? Or are you worried that it will ruin things?

There will continue to be a new for 100% guilds, for the same reasons that exist now:

  • 400+ member guilds need a way to ensure they have room for new members.
  • Guilds that want to focus on particular content, especially WvW and GvG.

And just as is true now, most guilds shouldn’t need to care about 100% rep.

Put another way, 100% rep is about socialization, not about the game’s mechanics.

I don’t have a rep policy in my guild and my guild is fine. I never cared about repping. If a guild is fun enough people will want to rep it. If they want to rep another guild, why shouldn’t they be able to? I’m not paying them. They don’t owe me anything.

At the end of the day, this won’t change anything for my guild personally. The main difference might be I’ll have more people repping if they’re not trying to level up bank guilds.

Our guild is a pretty tight group of people. Even though we won’t have to earn influence any longer, we will still work toward growing/improving our guild hall.

We enjoy doing things together and I don’t see that changing.

We require 100% rep, but honestly it has nothing to do with influence and everything to do with building a long-lasting community. We always allowed members to join multiple guilds if they wanted, but they could only rep us, unless of course they are using a personal guild bank, or running in TTS or something temporarily.

With these new changes nothing will change on our end, but our members that currently are in other guilds will now be able to communicate with them easily, which is a big plus.

I won’t stop because I can’t stop.
