If they have mainhand torch I might weep a little. I was dreaming of a mainhand condition-based torch on the Guardian since launch.

As for what I’d be interested to see: Mainhand and offhand Offense based shields. But that’s probably just because of my enjoyment of Cao Ren in Dynasty Warriors.

I don’t really get the appeal of off-hand dagger as a weapon option. It works functionally like any off-hand and the prospect is entirely ruined by the unpolished wielding animation in all of its femoral-artery-stabbing glory, such that Reaper of Souls is really the only good OH dagger skin there is.

I would love short bow. Shoot arrows that have an initiation range, but then follow your target. They move real slow, but deal high damage. Have to be in 900 range to shoot, follow target for 2000 range. These wouldn’t move so slow they never hit, but slow enough to be kited. Have high burst and mobility on the short now. I think it would be cool.
Oh yeah, they are shot at a speed between ranger short bow and thief short bow (fast but not super fast).

I’m going to hold my breath for the Specialization to come, but I just lost a lot of personal hope for the profession now.

Well that just skipped past the down state for me then.

RIP to my hopes for Rev weapon choices. Might even be the “nail in the coffin” as I was already disappointed in a couple of the Profession features.

Never played Guild Wars 1? Time for a history lesson.

Shiro was the primary antagonist of the Factions campaign.

Prior to the events of Factions. He was a bodyguard of the Emperor of Cantha who, after being deceived by a demon, was convinced that the Emperor planned to have his men kill him and decided to beat him to the punch. Shiro slew the Emperor and all of his bodyguards, along with most of the combined Kurzick and Luxon soldiers who were sent to defeat him. It took the combined might of three heroes to defeat him at this point. One disarmed him from stealth while the other two took up his swords and killed him.

His death scream, known as the Jade Wind, was so powerful that it turned the surrounding sea to jade and the Echovald Forest to stone, killing everyone in a radius spanning hundreds of miles.

Flash forward many years later, and Shiro’s ghost returned to kill the new emperor and restore his own life. His mere presence created a zombie-like plague that threw all of Cantha into turmoil, starting a campaign that fans have fondly remembered ever since.

Despite his having been influenced by Abaddon, the god of secrets, and his demons, Shiro could be called the most powerful human character to ever appear in the series. He certainly is a legend by any definition.

Aye, Shiro was pretty freakin awesome…. for a bad guy that is.

To have him as a Legend on a Revenant and NOT have dual swords as well is an insult!

Sorry to burst your bubble, but it is confirmed no new weapons. That said, there are a couple of scythe skins for the staff, and Revenant is going to have a melee fighting staff. So, you can fight up close and personal with a “scythe” at least.

Scythes are in the game. That weapon was merged with Staff. That’s why staff has at skin if you notice. Revenant’s Melee attacks are all AoE like the Dervish Melee attacks, and they even get transformations like the Dervish. Revenant is the Dervish merged with Ritualist but in heavy armor instead of light.

Rifle and Longbow. Why?

Explanation:
Let imagine the game don’t have LG, so:
- Ranger can use rifle instead LG, ofc with same skill that LG have(change only animation);
- Warrior can use short bow instead LG.
The same is right to use LG instead Rifle.
As result you can delet LG or R witout harm to gameplay.
That definitly the most unused weapons in the game.
P.S. I realize LG&R for revenant is not fit the lore, but I suppouse it good for the game mechanics.

Wut? They can be either cc,burst,condi,support 5 long range weapons doesn’t make sense.

I just want to see a melee staff that acts like (or instead give us) a pike/spear/lance/Polearm.
I’d buy 5 more character slots if I knew those weapons were coming. I’d be able to make so many more RP characters, plus long weapons are amazing in MMO’s from previous games.

Hammer, axe, and mace already confirmed but I don’t feel like I’ll be a heavy without a greatsword and obviously a staff would be awesome. I’m not into daggers or swords but anything else is fine.

this class looks like it will be so OP ………. aoe tanky melee fighter…..

not to mention the heavy animations on all there skills your screen is going to be filled with particle effects

I know this is an older topic.. but what I would really like the Revenant to have as a weapon would be a Whip (as in Nightmare court skill set whip). If you ever did the storyline for a Silvari and get to use one for that brief story breaking the one guy out of jail, you get to try out the whip skillset.

A viable sword and shield build that isn’t niché.

I’m aching to have bolt with flameseeker and feel like I am not compromising anything.

Lol finally someone else who saw the whip and realized how fun of a weapon it could be. So glad to see some other people who don’t ask for just spears or greataxes lol. Me and one or two others mentioned something like this in a weapons thread a while back though it sadly never went anywhere.

Know this is a little bit late and I’m sorry for the bump but I didn’t see an earlier one so figured I’d comment here lol. (Again sorry I’m a little new to the forums side of GW2 dun yell at meh X3)
I’ve noticed a lot of people going with more traditional weapons such as great axe or crossbow or reforming the spear to be an aboveground weapon. While I’d love to see these as well I haven’t really seen much else variety wise other than this as far as suggestions. And while yes I know these will probably never be brought into the game I still think it would be a cool feature lol. X3
1.) Whip- In the sylvari storyline there is a brief chance to grab a whip and lay out some damage as part of the story and honestly, it was fun to play with lol. I know it could be hard to think of a lot of skins and animations for this but I think it could be a cool add in, maybe as an off hand if not full, and would love to see something like this.
2.) Chains- Yes I know this sounds broad but there’s a reason for this, there’s so many opportunities with chain weapons! Theres everything from the classing spiked ball and chain to the sickle and chain or even a bolas. I could easily see it being a medium ranged weapon or close ranged, whether it be a Mesmer manipulating it to snake out and strike its foe or a warrior swinging it in an arc knocking back all foes in range I think this could be another fun addition.
3.) My last idea, the classic yet tragically underused Tiger Claws. For obvious reasons these could be a close ranged weapon and I could easily see these strapped onto a thief. Maybe for spellcaster classes you could develop some kind of long range ability, similar in the way necromancers shoot out claw animations with some of their skills. One of the harder weapons to make significant in game yet felt like I’d mention it regardless.
