Well I called it, Revenants are teh new Dervishes! Which excites me to no end! My main in GW1 was Dervish, and I absolutely can’t wait to roll a Revenant!
Article released today for anyone wondering: https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/revenant-the-master-of-the-mists/

“Revenants also have upkeep skills, which you may remember from the original Guild Wars. Certain legends have skills available that will cause you to lose the ability to regenerate energy or even put you into a degeneration state while they remain active. These skills will last until you run out of energy or toggle them off.”

“…each legend includes a package of skills themed to that legend and a specific play style. In that sense, each legend will feel very distinct; you will choose each one with a set purpose in mind. Each legend’s skills are designed to be very visual. From a glance at the skills used, one should be able to tell which legend is being invoked. Each legend has its own color, style, and theme.”
GW2 DERVISHES WOOO!!!

As I recall, someone datamined Balthazar from the game. Not an armor, but a mesh that’s meant to be used for an NPC or transformation. It might be possible to avatar transform into Balthazar as a Revenant.

Well, since this means Dervish is unlikely as its own class, I hope this means Dervish becomes a Revenant Specialization that allows them to channel the gods instead of legends and rethemes their attacks to be more whirling.

You become an avatar of Balthazar during the Durmand Priory story mission in Lion’s Arch against the Risen.

Probably not given that the gods may be too human-specific for the other races.

The one thing I’m worried about since charr don’t believe in gods would using the power of a god be contradiction?

There are no gods anymore. They’re just really power humans now. I’ll leave it to the lore-nuts to decide if that constitutes a retcon or not.

Charr also aren’t fond of magic yet you can be a necro, mesmer and elementalist… Races are purely visual… Some racial skills are used (Bear form to rush trough radiation room in asura fractal) but its mostly estetic

The char know the gods exist, they just don’t like them because they have helped the humans for so long.
The Asura also know the gods exist, they just think it’s silly to worship some being which may or may not help you.
The Norn know the gods exist as well, they just prefer their animal spirits.
The Sylvari opinion on the gods is mixed. They have seen people using powers they claim to be from the gods, but the sylvari think it could just as easily be magic.

I wouldn’t say for sure they are humans.
They are extremely powerful, can effect the entire planet, do not seem to age & are immune to most forms of harm so far as we know (can be harmed by each other & very specific manners by mortals) & can appear in most any form they want.
As for what they actually are ? Nobody is completely sure. Me personally, I think they are extremely ancient powerful beings from this reality or another (there are multiple linked via the mists) who draw their power from somewhere in the mists.

That’s even better as we can transform into a margonite. My dream comes true.
