If they get a bow I hope they get longbow instead of shortbow. Much better skins on Longbow.

Greatswords is a safe bet as well.

Hope he will also get dagger mainhand.

As daggers are my favorite weapons (in gw1 and 2) I second this! Dual sword and sword dagger is pretty amazing as well!

It’s very likely that they’ll have the highest hp pool like necros n warriors. Think about it we’ve got 3 classes with a start of 10khealth,3 classes with 15k starting health and 2 classes with 18k… I’m terrified of revenants now.

I’d be fine with Staff, Sword/Sword, Sword/Pistol, Sword/Dagger, and maybe an Axe or Mace.

From the gw2 facebook page, looks like sword/sword confirmed?

Given that Rytlock is their archatype & teacher I’d say it’s likely they could get pistol for offhand.

i would say deppends the Avatar they choose?

I think so far Staff and Sword/Dagger are 99% confirmed at this point.

I’d personally like to see Mace, Focus, and Warhorn added into the class.

I’m still thinking that “staff” was a hammer, if only for length reasons, and the general bashing animation.

Though that may just be me wanting a more martial artist twirl to the martial staff, than just a blunt instrument,

Same here. For me staff is not confirmed. Not as a melee weapon at least. Simple bc these animations with “spear” looked way too hammer like for my taste. Id be really dissapointed if thats a staff.

Also if he get a hammer, i hope its a dps weapon actually.

Our best source of information about the Revenant is Rytlock Brimstone himself, the so-called “first Revenant” and supposed trainer of all future Revenants. A brief study of his skills and exploits reveals some possible hints. For example:

In the game, Rtylock uses a Pistol in his off hand, even before his venture into The Mists. As that is something no other Warrior does, it is fair to assume that other Revenants will use the Pistol. Similarly, in Edge of Destiny, then-Legionnaire Brimstone proved himself quite adept with Rifles, Axes, Shields, and Hammers, despite Sohothin being his primary weapon most of the time.

Personally looked to slim with not a lot of grips plus there are plenty of melee fighting staves ie bo staff

What would be a better/cheaper way to appease the ‘we need a martial staff’ crowd than just slapping a staff model in and flagging it as a hammer. It would function identical and would only be cosmetic. Surely some others have noticed that the Slingshot isn’t really a shortbow?

I wouldn’t place bets just yet, be mindful that Rytlock used S/P when he was a Warrior. Also keep in mind that Revenant will have a specialization that gives access to additional weapon types.

Since they show Rytlock with a sword and a staff but don’t mention them in this post, I’m assuming that means they haven’t revealed all the weapons yet.

There are more weapons coming. Not saying this will be a staff but it is possible. So I wouldn’t celebrate just yet.

Edit: also the staff looking weapon we saw in the trailer was a melee weapon. The hammer for the Revenant will be a ranged weapon so..

I personally hope they have dual Swords, GS, dual Daggers, and a Long Bow.

I would think it strange that they would have a trailer of him carrying and using a sword and a staff and then not have them as 2 more of the weapons. What would be the point of that?

The various screenshots in the blog and the Polygon interview show mace main hand and axe off hand. Has anyone seen the reverse, or are these looking to be non-dual-wield?

The weapon in the trailer was a melee weapon. Revenant hammer is a ranged weapon. There’s no victory there.

I still think there might be a staff, they said hammer will be ranged but in the trailer there was a close up staff looking wepon

I really wish they use sword and its quite good. I unfortunately made 2 Bolts before wardrobe system and since my thief is using 1 I’d like for some-one to use the other
Also please dont give them greatswords.. I’d like for some variety. Even though sword can be used by most classes I think greatsword is most used…

Note in the trailer the Melee spear or staff as we call it, doesn’t do any of the skills described in today’s article. It’s not a hammer, but a staff.

Doesn’t even look like a hammer, so no idea why people thought it was a hammer.

Clearly in the trailer, the Revenant is using a Staff for Melee, and the hammer was said to be a ranged weapon, keep that in mind. So clearly that weapon in the trailer was NOT A HAMMER…..

Trailers are very reliable sources, especially when it’s the new class reveal trailer…

And like mentioned before, Hammers are ranged. The staff was used as a Melee weapon not ranged. It’s confirmed.

And Sworda are also confirmed both in the trailer and in the art.

How do you explain a art of a warrior with a 2 handed axe (on heart of thorn site specialization) or a charr holding a 1 handed spear and shield shirt that Colin has worn on one of the interviews. I do think revenant will be able to use it but untill its said by a game developer its not confirmed, its an assumption. I think your deffinition of confirmed is bit of.

We know he uses sword. We can olny assume that the spear looking thing is a staff actually as they turned hammer into long range weapon. What a joke but oh well..

As for dagger it is not confirmed. We wasnt supposed to see Pop and what he uses. Just cause he used it there doesnt mean we will get it as they might as well scrap this idea of offhand dagger and delete it.

You make a point about the concept art. But where that ends is the actually trailer reveal for the class. It shows video action of the class using a sword and staff. That’s the difference.
