How would racial skills interact with revs? If they work as normal would choice of race affect revs alot more than other profession due to lack of utility choice?

That’s a fair point. I’ve been concerned with the Revenant’s lack of utility selection, and the racials seem to be hedged out completely.

Or will there be racial-specific heroes to call on? That’d be a nifty lore-booster.

Most likely not. I can’t find the quote, but at one point, ArenaNet said they don’t want to focus on race-only gameplay mechanics, because one will always come out as being the “best”, and everybody will feel obligated to play that race. Its like how the Charr were in the beta tests. Everybody who played PVE/WvW was a Charr, because their Artillery Barrage was easily the most powerful skill in the game, until it got nerfed.

I would like to see characters that are of the 5 playable races as legends, but make them available to everybody, otherwise it will just start a race meta.

It would be less “focussing” and more gimmick-y. It is very much possible to balance the racial heroes so they can exist as something fun to have without breaking the class.
I’d like to see a Jora hero for norn revenants, or Prince Rurik for humans. I think it would be really cool to see all these heros appear on a battlefield, signalling the enemy that hey idiot, you’re being attacked by all of Tyria, would you like to reconsider your life choices?^^
