Rewarding single player content
Better keep the focus on multiplayer content. It’s not a singleplayer game after all.
Adventures will be repeatable content designed for solo play. They’re only short tasks however and will likely get old quick since they’re easy to complete and the goal is speed running perfection.
Personally, I’d like to see the equivalent of raiding (“challenging content”) but for solo players only – like the Queen’s Gauntlet. Raiding simply doesn’t offer a challenge towards an individual, it’s only challenging to the group as a whole (there’s always that 1 person who fails). The problem with challenging solo content however is that if you’re not good enough, you’ll never be able to complete it, whereas anyone can get carried through group content.
It’s scaled to be doable with a single player
It’s not just scaled, it’s designed for a single player. Anyone that groups to complete the achievements is simply trivializing them, which is why they should be disabled in groups. It’s a shame that the hardest achievements can be cheated by simply grouping up and staying dead.
To make the living story repeatable, they just need to make the challenges repeatable with a pool of random rewards.
S.A.B. Anyone? Would be a great challanging singleplayer content
I think there will definitely be rewards for single player content through the story line, look what they did with LS2 and the challenge modes rewarding special skins or trinkets. I enjoyed that content and look forward to what will be in HoT.

I had this discussion a lot in another game (ESO).
They made a mistake there to add endgame content that requires you to form a group. You simply can only reach max level if you do that content or grind for an almost infinite amount of time.
So it is not so simple as saying it isn’t a single player game. It isn’t a multiplayer game either. It is an mmo. You are allowed to play alone and your are allowed to play with others.
I think within those standards the rule should be that nobody should ever feel forced to play in a group, just as nobody every should be forced to play alone.
In some games. you can’t bring other people to personal story isntances. I find that just as stupid as allowing people to play alone, all the way till the final part of the personal story and then forcing them into a party.
So I agree with the OP, there should be rewarding single player content AND rewarding group player content.
Arise, opressed of Tyria!
Don’t forget that there are some nice rewards tied to the LS2 achievements. Not the same as the initial rewards, but in some cases really worth it.
Id rather keep most of the focus on multiplayer content. Keeps the game a bit more active.
