The following topics is going to contain Story and Dragons Stand spoilers, so don’t read on if your not this far.
Ok so alot don’t realise and I see many people ingame ask why we don’t fight a dragon but a corrupted drake in the last instance. The key here is to pay attention to the story, but the delivery of the final story instance and the surprise waiting at the end of open world Dragons Stand is not clear, as the instance begins at pact camp at the start.
In the instance you hear “The battle outside” but unless you have experienced it you are none the wiser to:
Acatually fighting a colossal sized mouth of modremoth at the end of DS in the real world.
I have to say the open world dragon is a very nice touch indeed and is probably the most epic open world encounter in guild wars. As a GW1 player you really have brought me back into immersion of something that feels epic.
But…
Oh, the story. The mind of mord in the dream. kitten kitten kitten I nearly tossed my pc out the window. Getting that beast to 25% health for it to nail you out the sky and kill you go kitten it. I only experience 1 rift bug, so I’ve not much to complain except that as a daredevil with signet of malice and invigorating precision, I was able to run under his legs permanent auto attack without losing much health as my hp gain was to much.
When I did beat him by avoiding them stones in flight mode, my client restarted due to a patch. Once again I was ready to flip but I got my rewards so happy about that.
Up to story step 15 is an amazing journey. The last encounter feels a bit lackluster with champiom modremoth snipers being a more challenging enemy that you actually have to dodge. Atleast we have real world mord which like I say, is my favourite encounter yet.
Though it needs to be said, poor co ordination in the 3 champions leading to that event means I’ve only had the chance to fight the mouth of modremoth once.
TLDR: final chapter feels bugged, rushed and lackluster easy soloable on a DD zerk thief (staff p/p) using signet of malice and invigorating precision
Mouth of modremoth which you fight in the real world is huge, epic and very fun. But you will never see it without full map co-ordination
