Saddened
the standard game you see included is not something you pay for, ANet has stated that this is a free gift for new players so they can join in and play the game
you, as a player who already owns the game will instead get an extra char slot
(if you buy the 70 or 100 you get 2 char slots)
…
If you bought the base game before the announcement, you get a free character slot.
If you bought the base game after the announcement, there is a refund program you can take advantage of.
I swear, this same QQ has been responded to in so many places by so many people.

Mains — Mathias of the Wood [Ranger]; Collaborator Bluatt [Engineer]
Alts — Necromancer, Warrior, Elementalist
This have been stated over and over and over and over and over again.
The price for the expansion is $49,99. Even without the inclusion of the free base game the price would be $49,99.
Krall Peterson – Warrior
Piken Square
This has already been addressed by Anet. No one here is an Anet corporate, just informed players.
You aren’t paying full price for the original game. The expac was $50. They then included the core game as a free bonus, albeit for new players only. This their business model for all future expacs and they have clarified this in threads and news announcements.
Whatever way you look at it, the expac is $50 with or w/o the core game.
Apologies.. subject already being discussed in another Forum Topic. My bad
I understand your pain. I also think you’re misstating your angst. You’re upset by the value you’re getting for the money vs the value new players get. You’ll pay 50 for the expansion (and potentially a character slot). New players get the same plus a bank tab and four character slots.
The real question you need to ask yourself is “does the expansion have enough content to justify the money”. As for the fairness issue, get over it. Anet and the white knights don’t care.
Even if the topic was already created, it’s still good to point out A.net’s mistakes!
Maybe after 2500 responses of angry players they will rethink the release of HoT!
Maybe they will even make a cheaper version of the expansion without the original game! I still hope so and whatever they will say about it (‘’no we are not going to sell another version’‘) I won’t buy the pre-released—>only the final release in 2016 when HoT will maybe get close to be almost ready !

They will release a cheaper version…. well after its release. Or you can wait and buy the expansion after HoT and get both for $25. Or you can wait and buy the expansion after that and get both for $16.67. The longer you wait, the more you save!
I feel like I’ve wait too much already! :’(
50$ to be able to play HoT right now I would already buy the expansion and buy another copy for my boyfriend!
But since the hype train is gone…and not even the revenant is ready……I just hate to be a 3 year old gw2 player…if only I could rediscover the game like during the firsts weeks……. -
