If I want to make a second legendary, must I really go through the entire map completion of the expac a second time on a different character?

Yes. It’s only four maps, at least.

yup, thats how gift of exploration work. just be happy for the maguuma gift its 4 relatively smallish maps. It could be all of core tyria you have to clear again…

I’ve made nine legendary weapons and so I’ve done five world completes on core Tyria. I wouldn’t complain about having to do four zones. Once you figure them out they’re not that hard anyway.

Takes about 2 days at most to clear all 4 zones.

Core Tyria was a LOT worse.

And it is, you know, LEGENDARY.

It’s worth a bit of effort.

Look at it as a chance to complete more of the Specialization Collections. Split your characters up, have one character complete Verdant Brink, another complete Tangled Depths, and so on. You’ll get the class-specific map completion rewards for the Specialization Collections, and can combine the gifts over multiple characters to get your next Legendary.

Good news is that you only have to unlock the required masteries once to do the maguuma map completion infinite number of times

Having the masteries unlocked makes it so much easier on subsequent map completions that it actually becomes quite fun to do.
