So recently, I’ve built a gaming PC for 1,300$. I was thinking of going back into Guild Wars 2 because I used to play Guild Wars 2 on the lowest settings on my laptop, at an unstable 30 FPS (what I mean by unstable is that it keeps on getting FPS drops, down to 10-15 FPS then back up again.) Now that I have a better PC, I can play Guild Wars 2, but I have to buy Heart of Thorns first. Should I go back to Guild Wars 2 even though I have missed out a lot, and buy Heart of Thorns, if it is worth the money? I’m a level 80 Thief with some pretty good stuff (and yes, I’ve played for quite a while on lowest settings. I feel bad for myself.)
I can not speak for anybody else but in my opinion the expansion broke more than it fixed and if you are mostly in for the story like me you are going to be severely disappointed not to mention the dull XP grinding for masteries. On the other hand if you are interested in raids and map wide events the expansion is probably right up your ally.
Depends on what you enjoyed doing in-game. There’s a lot of topics discussing everything in detail but generally..
Dungeons are dead due to nerfs.
Fractals are a lot easier and less time consuming.
Raids are tough as kitten but have received favourable reviews
WvW has been neglected.
SPvP is a little tumultous but still fun
Core Tyria is still fairly active. You can get top tier crafting mats by completing open world events which is nice.
Overall they’ve added a little to the core game but also taken some critical stuff out as well.
The new content is hit-or-miss. If you enjoy challenges and large scale events then Maguuma is definitely the place for you. If you just want to cruise around, taking in the sights, occasionally gathering at a node or two you’re probably going to have a bad time. As a thief you will probably love the Daredevil Elite Spec though. Only takes a couple hours at most in the new maps to get enough hero points to max it out.
Honestly, it’s a relatively small price to pay so I’d say go for it.

just play core for a few years plenty of stuff there and more ppl to also give you time to farm gold to gems so you can BUY the season 2 story or else the expansion is not gonna make 1 bit of since story wise + the expansion will be cheaper and hot will be changed as it is now it’s kinda dead seems the only ones having fun are elites gloating over being able to look down on ppl – yes this game with hot became Elite raiders only now
My most Fav quote so far from raiders forums is on the DPS meter topic some one said this
DPS meter is absolutely crucial, if someone isn’t putting the effort needed to beat the encounter they need to be gkicked and blacklisted from future runs.
Failure is not an option and can’t be ignored.

Since the new star wars movie is out soon should be allot of new ppl flooding that mmo game about 70% done downloading it my self H.O.T is just not for me raids/elites and the mastery exp grind reminds me of eq1 hell levels

I think you should download the core game and try it. See if that is working for you. I personally quite like the expansion. I am mainly PvP/WvW player and I would recommend the expansion. The elite specs are fun, fractal changes make fractals easier to get into and more changes coming soon and the big thing is PvP Leagues which are coming in December.
Sure there are some bits I was annoyed about but I got over them pretty quickly

Adding raids was a terrible decision without creating random grouping and the content is way too overtuned.

Well I paid $140Aus and I question the value for the few hours grind to max elite profession, that’s not so HoT. Even $70Aus for the basic pack is over priced in my opinion.
And the mastery system that gave you credit for core (old) content so you could grind XP and quickly get gliding and jumping mushroom etc this will make the new area much simpler and easier to navigate, so if you had max everything before HoT, with stacks of boosters, you’ll do fine.. wait did I say before HoT, wait a minute, wasn’t this meant to be knew content???

Just because others see the bad things the game delivers or the poor execution of what is put out, the poor communication they provide (unless its to support an issue with revenue stream).. try reading some and actually looking at those opinions from both sides…
No one is forcing you to agree with anything, but neither are they pushing out hate speech. In fact its more likely that they want this game to be so much better because of their fondness for it, that they take the time to put out their feedback an opinions in the first place in the hope someone might listen at ANET one day…rare occurrence I know, but not unheard of.

Agreed, that is why I like GW2 it was not WoW. Even auction prices for basic stuff has gone gold grab crazy.
I see WoW players everywhere, they think they are GW2 players but they’re not, they are WoW players who don’t know it yet….
I think the answer is No if you’re an open world explorer. The new maps are beautiful but only four.It’s a sad thing to an open world explorer like me.
If you like more challenging content, yes, it’s worth coming back. I’m enjoying the jungle immensely. Some people don’t like it, though. They think it’s too hard or they just like to solo and they’re having trouble.
I hated silver wastes it was boring and grindy the bad kind of grindy running in circles over and over for chests or map hoping to win Silver wastes for chests. Nothing good ever came from the chests just garbage.

No this isnt a good place to ask this. A majority of the player base doesnt even use the forums, especially people who are really enjoying the game and spending their time playing it. Its usually the disgruntled player who is unsatisfied that constantly lurk the forums complaining. People even went on a crusade to make people spam 0/10 reviews on meta critic minutes after launch without even playing it. People are putting down the ENTIRE expansion based on 1 or 2 things they dont like ad then using extreme hyperbole to criticize it

Fallout 4 has taken up pretty much all my vidja game time but i played HoT like crazy when it got out. So much fun, they fixed a lot that was wrong with the old zones, like you actually have to be at your keyboard to win a fight and the new event chains are great, you won’t just instantly suceed because you’re there and can breathe.
The new story is also great, no more campy poorly written/voice acted saturday morning cartoons. It can actually appeal to people over 10.
So yes, if you feel the old world content is dull and unrewarding because it’s so easy you should pick it up. Elite specs are alot of fun aswell.
