I have searched forums I can’t find answer.

I have come back after a 2 year absence. I have 3 lvl 80’s, all world completion. today I bought HoT exp.

I noticed it still shows exp for kills etc.. but no exp bar. After lvl 80 you used to get a Skill point for leveling. It is a full purple bar now.

I get you have to unlock all traits to reach mastery and unlock all mastery traits to use mastery traits. You can also use your skill points to buy stuff. So don’t you need to keep collecting skill points.

I have not been to the HoT area yet. finishing story first. I have approx. 400 Skill points on my lvl 80’s. I guess that’s a lot but since its currency you can always use them right. have I missed something?

Yes, they changed to hero points and exp for level 80’s now goes towards the mastery system. The skill-point for leveling past 80 was absolved mid-year and changed to a spirit-shard per lvl after 80.

When you have the static bar filled with color at the bottom of the screen, you will need to spend a mastery point to unlock it and continue on the path, or swap paths if you do not have the points for it. Just click the bar and you will see them.

Looking in the achievements pane will show you all the places/ways you can get mastery points. Red for core, Green for HoT.

Thanks. I guess I should have spent hero points to unlock all Mastery traits. I knew I had to. Just making sure it was next step. Hope mastery points built and I haven’t lost any keeping bar full.
