So can Specializations weapon swap?
I’d love to know this as well because Engis have some pretty essential swap sigils right now I wonder how they are going to handle that
i assume thy would be able to – just because they are given a weapon that differentiates them from their basic class, doesnt mean that they cant use other weapons

Specializations are not just a weapon they use, they change traits, give new utilities and elites etc. If you are a Druid then you can use a staff but you don’t cease to be a druid when you don’t have one equipped.
Presumably, apart from maybe the classes that can’t weapon swap: elementalist and engineer.

I want utility swap it would be nice if just one specific weapon and more utilities. Weapon swap might be risky depending on what you lose and the spec required, I expect some to be off. Hope they don’t mess up.

They way Anet explained the Specializations system, they only use the new weapon skills of the new weapon given to the classes.

Staff for ranger.Well if that’s the case, can they weapon swap? Will a Druid that swaps from staff to bow, go back into ranger form?
At about 45:13 “they can use the staff weapon” Key word being ‘can’, heavily implying that using the staff is optional.
Though, they do state that specialisations could alter the class mechanics so removing the weaponswap ability isn’t a wild thought, but it doesn’t sound like this is the case at least for the Ranger.
yea if engineer or elementalist get weapon swap then i would think that would lock out kits and attunments permanatley in those specialisation.

A common misconception. Engineers are the most melee-centric profession in the game, every weapon and kit is designed to be at it’s fullest potential while hugging your enemy.
Engineers are lacking in viable ranged options, and no I do not consider Grenades viable ranged. It’s travel time is just way to long. It only does a serviceable job in WvW because large groups mean you are bound to hit something, even if it’s just their dog.
So imagine my surprise that Engineer’s new toy is just more close range brawling.
Also, it does not now make sense to switch weapon. Engineers, with Hammer included, will only have three main hand weapons. That’s a pitiful and leads to very little customization if weaponkits are stripped away.
And consider how there are a bunch of traits designed to improve kits, strewn across various Trait lines, that would be useless.
No I do not expect Engineers’ specialization to lose the use of kits or to get weapon swapping.
