So how many Revenants...
void OnHoTRelease () {
if (specializationCountPerProfession > 1) {
for (int i = 0; i < myCharacters.Length; i++) {
for (int j = 0; j < specializationCountPerProfession; j++) {
TrySpecialization(myCharacters[i], specialization[myCharacters[i].profession, j]); }}}
else {
Character newChar = CreateNewCharacter(“Sylvari”, “Male”, “Revenant”);
RunAroundCity(newChar, “Divinity’s Reach”); }
}
Yep… that seems about right.
Edit:
Just found out there’s only 1 specialization per profession on release.
RevenantCount++, see you in Divinity’s Reach.
Hyperbole is the absolute worst thing in the universe.

Im gonna make one. it looks like me dream class. Melee, heavy armor, swords and coolio magic. Maybe even some assassinish skills? We will have to see.
This will be entirely dependent on whether or not specializations will let me dual wield torches on a Guardian. If so, then I’ll probably hold off. If not, I’ve been psyched to see something attached to the Ritualist for a very long time, so I’ll definitely hop on it.
Pffff, who cares about revenant. Druid incoming!
Pffffft, who cares about Druid, CHRONOMANCER INCOMING!
QFT. I will definitely do the specialisation for my Mesmer first.
But I could think about creating a revenant, if Anet would add some Canthan Ritualist-Hairstyles for Humans.
Its really hard to choose because I have 6 character who’ll benifit with the expansion as well as the new area. So I really want to play that but I also really want the Revenant. I could power level the Revenant since my mastery will progress for all characters its really hard to choose. I’ve been looking for a new name for my revenant seeing as my engineer has the name I would use for the profession seeing as my Ritualist had that name in GW1.
Definitely going to be maining a Rev, I’m addicted to heavy armor classes, the feel of the class alone has me gripped and I cant’ wait to play one, I’ve already got a placeholder character that i’ve been messing around in the wardrobe with to get an Armor set going, and now I’m working on collecting the pieces i need, also reserved a name.
Thief 80 | Elementalist 80 | Mesmer 80 | Necromancer 80 | Revenant TBA
Well, this is all very disappointing. I thought the continuation of the thread title was going to be ‘…does it take to change a lightbulb?’
Just one, but the spirit has to move him.
theres going to be Revenants everywhere once this expansion hits. Even I have opened up a new character slot just for it. The hype is real.
Depends on the playstyle.
I`ll make a character as soon as the there is a new sale on chara slots (i want every class) (I still need some of the class specific armor).
I’ll be one of those people running around on a Revenant.
I work on systems, combat, skills, and balance.
I am reeeeeally happy to see a new class.
I am also reeeeally scared about the balance since ANET doesn’t currently seem to have a balance team.
I loved my Ritualist and always wondered what one might be like if he/she could wear heavy armor. I’m extremely psyched about this class and really hope it lives up to expectations. I am extremely interested in the mechanics to see if it has a chance to live up to my expectations.
Revenants look really cool. I’ll be running one.
ill delete my warrior (level 50) because the idea behind him is that he’s my gw1 character resurrected, i’ll attempt to get the flameseeker shield, fiery dragon sword and zodiac armour along with the chaos longbow if i can though i wont bother with the skins until i have exotic armour and weapons for him
If your war was made before the April 15 patch last year keep him and get a new slot. Characters made after April 15 have to do the new trait system, which is really frustrating.

They said they are getting rid of the current trait system at the launch of HoT in favor of a simpler system. Whether this means they will go back to the old style, a slight variation of the old style, or something new (and possibly better or worse) system is yet to be determined.
Right now I have 59 times of knowledge. I’m hoping to have 80 by the release of the revenant so I can be level 80 afap (as fast as possible). I miss the good ole days when I was pioneering build on my thief. Looking forward to it
what have youd done with your “insta-level-20-scroll”? this + your tomes and you need only one tome more instead of 21 :P
That is counting my instant level 20 scroll
I’ll be one of those people running around on a Revenant.
I will be too, so hyped for this profession, I’ll be the first repentant to do a 1v2 (im a WvW player)
Im a little confused as to what the Revenant is exactly. Is it a mage class in heavy armor?
I want more details. I know Rytlock makes it look cool, though. I’m Definitely gonna roll one asap but I don’t think i will be power leveling it unless they fix the trait system before HoT releases.

I’m so glad I wasn’t the only one that finished the sentence like that.
I might be running a Revenant fairly soon after the expansion launches, but not before my Engineer gets to swing that hammer!

Hater. I’ll make sure it’s not too crazy.
I work on systems, combat, skills, and balance.
I have already played and geared every other class to 80, so I’ll be rolling an Asura Rev at launch. Immediately after creation, I’ll be popping my Golem Banker, insta-leveling to 80, equipping myself head to toe in Ascended Gear, and hitting the new content.

Just spoil us some info about revenant already! rawr
Only if the expansion pack comes with another character slot. Otherwise, I’ll just check out the specs for my existing six characters. >.> I don’t have any spare slots, and I’m too committed to the characters I’ve leveled to delete one.
I’ll likely give one a test drive since I haven’t played Guild Wars 1 … but I don’t care playing classes/professions that every other person is playing. Test Drive, likely … a permaneant character, maybe.

Wait? So he isn`t finished?
Can we channel a Stamepde of Dolyaks in him? I mean, we have a very famous Dolyak in tyrias history

Yay that means warrior finally is no longer the stepchild of gw2 and now Revenant will be.
On a more serious note, hope you’ll enjoy it, and manage to both make the class exciting, viable, all-round feel (like ele, ranger – personal opinion), and not overpowered at the same time. Please make revenant enough different from guard/warrior. I dislike both after a while of playing them cause boredom kicks in.
No excuse anymore for not giving ‘hide mounts’-option
No thanks to unidentified weapons.

10: log onto my ele and check out its specializations
11: log onto my alts and check their specializations
any questions?
Like others I’m going to instant level to 80 with tomes and I have enough scrolls of knowledge to fill in SP gaps if needed, I am going to hold off on giving her any skins though, got to check out the new ones HoT will bring!
Don’t worry the games still in Beta.

Hopefully there is an initial rush to find out how they play; but I have a feeling that they’ll thin out a lot after a short time; especially if they lack weaponswap and have skill swaping profession mechanics. Those tend to be a little less popular than the norm strangely.
My main was a Dervish in GW1 and the Revenant looks like a Dervish/Ritualist mixup. On the other hand I still have a character with my GW1 name, I guess it’s time to dust it off.
Arcane outfit – check.

I think i’ll be much busier with my druid and making a mesmer for it’s specialization. Unlike the main job this side profession talks to me…despite the butterflies, ugh.

Ill be starting at the Black Citadel thank you very much!

Yes… exactly where in that do you plan to learn to play the Revenant? I just see insta-80 and 7.&8. will not go far to teach you the workings of the new class
I’ll be using an experience scroll to get my Revenant to level 20, then run around and get a feel for the character. And take it slowly from there… already got loads of 80s, don’t need an 80 Revenant running around like everybody else.

kitten around in the heart of the mists for a couple hours and i should understand the abilities enough to start doing dungeons and after doing a few dungeons ill test my feet in eotm where i can poke all the upscale revenants that are leveling the old way i prefer to learn to play a class when i have everything that class has to offer at my disposal i dont like spamming one for 3 hours and pretending im still learning how to move forward while swinging a sword

Two. One to conjure the spirit of Blinky, Legendary Lord of the the Lightbulbs and one to screw it in.
I’m excited because of the number insta lvl 80 revenants newbies that I’ll be stomping in PvP. It will be my responsibility to thin the herd so only the true PvP worthy revenants survive.
I hope there will be a proper class balance pass for HoT, or the specializations will make some classes able to tank and kill 4 players, instead of the usual 3.

Anwyays i wish ya good luck and have fun stomping new players

Lol, I highly doubt a fresh insta 80 revenant will know how to chain their new skills together, compared to a seasoned player of the older classes, bar a few exceptions.
I wasn’t specifically talking about new players, I’m talking about revenant newbies, which will be everyone on day 1 of HoT.
The majority of players will probably roll a Revenant, but most of those who do will go back to their old main later.

You’ll spend days leveling your revenant to 80. We’ll spend the same amount of time playing with a fully geared lvl 80 revenant. You think somehow you’re gonna learn better/faster than us?
7, there will be 7 Revenants in the world when we get a chance to play them. After 7 have been created, they will no longer be available. So sayeth me!
I’ll be making one for sure. In every game I play I’m either a Shadow Knight or a Death Knight. Having a non-healing magic-y warrior is the only thing keeping going.

The Revenant is quite different from both the guardian and the warrior professions. Think a darker heavy armor class that imbues magic and power of the mists into it’s attacks, along with drawing power from past legends.

Is it safe to say that it takes some influences from Dark Knight-ish classes? It certainly seems so, when it comes to Rytlock’s armor. Will it be more offensive-oriented, in contrast to guaridan’s more defensive nature, or will legends make it anything it wants to be?
We want to know MOAR. :P
Funny thing is, people aready think to know for 100% what kind of build they run with revenant, as they already have their exotic (partially even ascended) equipment ready.
Let me guess, people, it’s zerker gear?
My Revenant will probably be an Asuran Conditioner (like my necro).
Brain, Brawn, Heavy Armor, Mallyx = awesome
LFG: Need 4 more Revs, Must have 100+ mastery points, and 7000+ AP.
I think I won’t be making a Revenant, just to be a special snowflake.
I wanna see what my ranger will be able to do with her specialization(s)!
