So if Marjory got to do it...
And just like every other prominent NPC necromancer in the story, it appears that we too will be getting a greatsword. Yay us.
That had me wondering about one story point immediately. Marjory got her greatsword possessed by the spirit of her dead sister. Now I’m pretty sure that my necromancer doesn’t have any dead sisters (at least that he’s mentioned). He did have this mentor he was really close to that died during the battle of Claw Island…
I don’t supposed that as a greatsword wielding necromancer, we’d get to ask the spirits of our dead mentors to fuse with our blades?
I thought my sister in the story was dead. But she got better.
perhaps life force is used as fuel.

you know, that would be really cool. like you use life force to boost your normal attacks instead of going into death shroud. earn life force, then unleash it. maybe attacks could even gain new properties with it.
I just want my dolyak priest back. And quite frankly it looks like an attainable option at this point.
That would be really cool (thrusts twilight in the air and yells) “I have the Tybalt!!!!”

Or everytime you swing the sword it whispers “Apples”.
Inspiration is only as good as it’s interpreter
Much to my surprise, Dhuumseal did not experience any significant price changes after it was announced Necromancers can now use greatswords.
and for the poor unfortunates that joined the priory, they get a sword that stops in the middle of the fight and says, “Oh, I’m sorry — have you not learned how to do that yet?”

hey, the priory GS is one of the coolest greatswords in the game >.>

This was my first thought as well.
Really like the idea of a greatsword necro.
I suspect the whole “sword permanently imbued with a spirit” will be a Marjory only thing.
I suspect that this specialization will be going towards the route of the ritualist. Why? Seems that Marjory will be teaching it to necro players; she’s Canthan, and she now has a spirit-imbued weapon – one of the things ritualists did in GW1.
So I suspect that thematically the specialization will be a bit similar to revenants (though necro specialization will deal with spirits, whereas revenants deal with the Mists itself).
Stop treating GW2 as a single story. Each Season and expansion should be their own story.
