So much bitterness
It seems to be a trend with all games, they will announce something, then put some info out over two weeks, then nothing for months, then another 2 weeks and then nothing for months and so on. A great example was GW2 they announce it 5 before release WHY. If you want a different game look at starcraft 2 legacy of the void expansion, how long has that been in the works

Actually, GW2 is a horrible example. Anet had to announce GW2 that early because they stopped development on GW1 and had to justify that. Besides, Eye of the North was a prequel to GW2. You would’ve wanted Anet to just say they stopped development for GW1 without saying they were developing GW2?
As far as the beta goes, it’s not exactly helpful to residence in the US either. Most of us are either working or still in class.

How long it’s taking to get the expansion information out isnt really what I am talking about. I am talking about forum questions. An easy example relating to the beta portals would be people asking if it was affected by magic find. Specific threads asking, posts within existing threads and not a peep.

That’s a terrible example, anyone that knows anything about the game knows that drops from mobs are the only things affected by MF, therefore the Portals that came from events would not be affected, but those that came through killing a creature would…that doesn’t even warrant an answer by ArenaNet.
“Man, we need more meaningful content. These updates every two weeks are paltry. They should take their time and make an expansions worth of content.”

“Man, we haven’t had new content in so very long! What are they doing? Why can’t they release like a little bit of something every now and then, like, maybe every two weeks?
That would be pretty sweet. Man, when are we gonna get something new?!?!!!!"

like anything its neither white nor black, its about finding the right balance.
people probably want monthly, or bi monthly updates of decent size, with an expansion every 1-2 years.
thats been working for most developers for awhile now.
it can be done

GW2 doesn’t have monthly fees so I don’t feel that they have to constantly pump out content constantly like those P2P MMOs. Although of course new content is always appreciated.

No, they don’t have to. Still, if they want to keep their players interested, they’d better think of doing something to keep them interested.
Remember, remember, 15th of November
Communication is the key to all of this. all of the bitterness I feel could be avoided with better communication.
There are some ANet employees who are really trying to communicate, and they have my appreciation and respect. However, the problem lies much higher up the corporate ladder, with people who have little interaction with the players and thus much less reason to care about how we feel.
The fact is that the communication policy will never change unless those people can be made accountable for their decisions to continuously strangle the flow of information.

You know that portals where actually dropping from mobs?

And that poster stated those Portals would be affected by MF. Just not the ones that came from chests of any kind (except, perhaps, Bandit Chests).
