So, who else requested a refund for HoT?

“We’ve been officially screwed over” makes it sound like a lot of people, any source to back that up?
If not, I’ll pull data from the same place you did and say
“We’ve just witnessed one of the best MMO exp. launch day ever and the content’s amazing, a lot of ppl say it, take my word for it”
forum dwellers would go nuts about the need to
“grind” to get exp, new swords, new potions etc
So far, I got everything that I payed for and more, so not sure why I need a refund. I mean I did my research, and a little gambling, but Anet gave me what I payed for. Did you not receive something you should have, is that why your making no sense in your topic?
We’re you not expecting to get a new elite spec for every class? That’s all I can assume since you consider this a “terrible release with the elite specializations.”
Currently in-game getting my moneys worth. Very much enjoying the new content

Eh, he’s probably mad about the skill points it takes, admit, I’m a bit peeved too….then I remembered that this is the first time in a while I’ve actually wanted to look through and do content. Albeit, yes, it is ridiculous how many it takes if you have MULTIPlE professions.

What? New content would never cause people to leave, I have it on good authority.
There is absolutely no evidence to support that it would.” -AnthonyOrdon
I don’t need to reiterate what has been stated so many times on the 40-page monster thread of complaints.

Best PvE map ever. I have played 13 hours already. Frigging hilarious stuff.

People complaining about character progression in MMORPGs? Really?
I don’t need to reiterate what has been stated so many times on the 40-page monster thread of complaints.
so you admit your aware of a thread already the same as your, yet you posted a new one?
No, I’m asking if anyone’s had luck getting their money back, not to complain about the expansion, yet people are disputing whether or not “people are getting screwed over” despite the fact that yes a very sizable number of people seem to agree with this notion.
So if you do not agree with me and don’t have an answer, the door is over there to the thread to leave. I respect your opinions that you like the content, and that’s fine. I do not believe I received my $50 worth by the blatant denial of elite specializations on the limited play time I have.

Wish I could get back the £79.99 I dropped on the expansion. Would be nice to know if you’re able to get a refund since the expansion has been released.

Game has over 7m active accounts according to the infographic they revealed yesterday.
That forum topic has 1.9k posts, out of which a large portion talk about how good the hero point adcquisition method is.
For the sake of your argument let’s assume that all 1.9k posts are people saying they got a refund.
7 million accounts in gw2 (3m+ sales before f2p went live) – 1.9k refunded, how is this a large portion of the playerbase?
I’ll ask again, proof?

yeppers, I posted multiple times in there about how it’s beneficial, you don’t just want the character auto completed as soon as you start the game, there needs to be progression

Honestly the only reason people are kittened about the specializations is because there was such a long time before this was implemented where the only thing you could do was create more classes. Now, where further specialization is available for existing classes, they now want to have these on every class, hence, loads of hours to unlock.
But here’s the thing: you’re basically remaking half a class. Instead leveling a new character, you’re leveling this one. Just like when you were leveling each and every one of the level 80s.
So you can complain all you want, but the fact you have several level 80’s just shows how much of a hypocrite you are being hence invalidating your argument.

Omg so much exciting new content for a small fee and you’re asking if we want a refund??
There are several things I don’t like, but I’m still very happy with my purchase. I wouldn’t give the expansion back if they refunded me 2 times more than I paid. Not saying it’s worth that much(it’s not.), I am just happy I get to play it and don’t regret my purchase one bit.

The grind for masteries and profession points is making any Korean MMO blush. The fact that you need million experience points to level up your masteries further is against Anet’s own manifesto. 16k exp per events, 2 million exp to next level, really?

This +1.
Spent most of the day on masteries, managed to unlock 4 abilities, and this is just for the personal story ( I had one extra for gliding ).

/shrug.
I thought I was playing and getting exp at the same time to unlock the Masteries, not grinding. I wasn’t expecting to log in and have the Masteries already done. I knew that I would be playing the game like I always do and getting Masteries progressed at the same time.
ANet may give it to you.

LOL i see what you did there
other than the few bugs and crashes that happened…I’m enjoying the content so far..
unsure why I would need a refund. though I did just upgrade to the deluxe expansion, being I like how it is all going.
Nvm.
Support just responded stating that if I want a refund my account will be de-activated with no access to the vanilla game.

As I mentioned above, you can’t unless you decide to quit the game forever, as they disable your entire account if you do, until you buy HoT again.

yeah, i remember advising people to refund before it went live, because they would probably do that.
others told them to wait and see.
Yep kinda sad, but i guess its let the buyer beware. Its a shame they hid all these important mechanic changes, makes it seem like a cash grab

Well i been polite since the beginning on the forum but now, this is BULLkitten.
They should be ashamed of themselves…

heres what this expansion boils down to.
If you love exploring the jungle and doing a lot of events repeatedly its great
If you dont, its pretty bad, because most of the features require exploring the jungle, and doing a lot of events repeatedly
Pre-purchase = bad.

The “advocates” are pvers that do the open world content anyway. You are ignoring the fact that this screws over players of all sorts of different niches than your “wow I wandered around and killed some mobs to get my spec, this feels like progression” nonsense. The elite specs should be baseline, they are not all worth the pve grind to get. Period. But nonetheless they should be attainable without suffering through crap that you don’t want to do.
Game has over 7m active accounts according to the infographic they revealed yesterday.
You are misrepresenting the infographic.
7m created accounts does not equate to 7m active accounts. No game has 100% retention.
Pre-purchase = bad.
Anet has now taught me this, If i had a delorean i wouldzip back to last month, punch myself in the face and steal the credit card i was about to use to pre-purchase this grindfest with and buy beer instead
this is why I dont pre-purchase, since its playable even without HoT, I rather stick with it. I mean why break my heart by pre-purchasing the game, now twice the price as it is than before for a content yet to be balance and yet there are bugs to be fix.
Ummm not sure what you are talking about OP… I’m in game right now and can confirm that I am indeed having fun. So far the first zone feels huge, loving the adventures, the story, the new action camera. Worth it in my book.

This game has become an ungodly grindfest from hell. I have 8 toons. I was going to make a revanent, but forget about that it will be hard enough to grind just one toon to full mastery and specializations. I don’t even know how to earn the experience for the masteries as I have yet to see an explanation in plain English anywhere. Obviously I can run around in the new maps for Maguuma masteries but do you have to grind PVE events in Tyria to get the Tyria masteries? I have 26 Tyria mastery points but now have to grind experience to use them? HTF does this work?

you need to do things that give exp in tyria.
events mostly. maybe the new map rewards give exp, i dunno
dungeon xp is nerfed, fractals never gave good exp before, not sure now.
