South America Beta time = AWFUL.
I think they are trying to test during their business hours. Why they wanted players who could play during the week to grind for portal stones. Now, it does suck i wont deny that.
Though, im fairly certain that the community is split between players who dont have work and do have work, so~
That makes no Sense Dante.1763 because I THINK their goal is the casuals…
If they change 1 or 2 hours will be really good for EU + South America.
Only USA I don’t think is enough to stress test or to achieve the goals they have in mind.
Sadly we don’t really know their goal.

No, this is stress testing, not content polling. They have no goal to get any particular demographic within the playerbase, they just need to see if the servers can handle the content they have made, and all they need for that is numbers.
The time will always be bad for someone. So they put the testing when they could have the most people available to keep an eye on it.
I’m sure they had meetings to discuss the specific time slots and which time slots would be best.
The complaint that its a bad time is the same thing as me saying its a bad time for me because I will be on vacation from the US Memorial Day. It will always be conflicting with someones schedule. They set it up for 3 time slots, 11:30pst, (great for US second shift workers who are just waking up), 3:30pst (great for students who get off from classes in most US states at that time) and 7:30pst (great for people who work normal US 8-5 style jobs). Does it stink that it’s at bad times for most people in a global game, yes.
But this is still beta phase of the game, and limited to a few people who actually got the portal or were invited some other way.
TLDR: Tough GoRedEngine for some of us, have fun for those who can.
“I want them to do things at a time that’s convenient to me, rather than to them.”
Yeah, well that’s a fine sentiment when you’re the host and not the guest.
Glad we’re clear on who is hosting this now.
I wonder what your basis for comparison is…”

South America has essentially the same timezones as the US. Anet is based on Seattle, which is PST, so even then, some of these times can be inconvenient for EST people.
Regardless, there are 3 separate blocks of time, so hopefully at some point many players should be able to log in to Anet can record some data.
That being said I won’t be able to participate regardless, as I need a new CPU, and that doesn’t arrive until Wednesday.
@OP, is that meant to be a joke? South American shares pretty much the same time zone as the entire North America. At least 5-7pm is still during the “day”.
What is awful is for the people on the other side of the globe, mainly Asia and Oceanic. We have the converted testing time as 2-5am, depending where you are from. That’s basically saying, don’t bother doing the beta testing if you’re from that side of the planet.

Yet again it all comes down to: beta is not a demo.
Actualy as a french i have a session rom 4h30 AM to 6h30 AM so don’t complain about the timing.

Not trying to do something that is convenient to the customers isn’t exactly the best way for a company to be successful now, is it?
