Speculation of course, but from the looks of things, the 9 Specializations aren’t getting the same weapon as their new weapon.
So far:
Ranger = Staff
Necro = G-Sword
Engineer = Hammer
Guardian = Longbow
Mesmer = Shield
Element = Sword
What’s left are:
Warrior = ??
Thief = ??
Revenant = ??
My speculation for them are as follows:
Warrior == ??
Thief == Rifle
Revenant == Dagger
The last of them is Warrior, which is a bit tougher to figure out, since there are many weapons left over that haven’t been used yet by the 8 other classes. Pistol seems to be on many people’s list, as the Warriors Specialization weapon. But what about Torch? What about Scepter? What about Focus? Short bow?
Those are likely what it will come down to for Warriors.
*Pistol
*Scepter
*Focus
*Torch
*Shortbow
What’s you all’s thoughts on this?
People seem to want Pistol or Torch for warrior. Rifle for Thieves seems to be a given considering they are the only Profession that lacks a 1200 range weapon (No their crappy spear gun doesn’t count).
Scepter wouldn’t work for Warriors because they wanted them to be a martial class, no magic, and they already have maces as their blunt one hander.

I dont think that revenant specializations weapon is a dagger nor i dont think we even datamined his spec weapon at all. But convince me if you can.
Warrior most likely will end up with pistol and thief with torch.
War OH pistol, Thief Rifle, I can’t see dagger MH for rev when they have a shield and OH axe ,I’m leaning to Torch/Focus for them.
revenant is getting staff as they showed revenant staff footage with other specialization footage
so warrior is either pistol or dagger
and thief i would perfer a torch, basically a non physical weapon
If you don’t mind me asking, what is the source of the ele sword.
I know there was a guardian with a longbow in the wvw footage, but I don’t recall seeing an elementalist wielding a sword.
Not saying you’re wrong, I may have missed it.

Been datamined. Check reddit discussions.

Staff is their parent class weapon for Melee DPS.
Also as theorized, rangers are getting staffs. I believe OH Dagger is their specialization. That’s my theory. Fits the new Legend reveal as well.

You never know. Specializations make classes different. This could be their way of making Warriors use magic. Many RPGs already have magic using warriors. In fact, GW1 was one of them. Warriors pray to the same gods that other classes get their magic from. So it’s not a reach. But I predict Pistol.

Source is, it’s one of the weapons shown in the Revenant class reveal. Why would that be the specialization when Anet said they hadn’t revealed that yet for the Revenant?

More like a tank weapon, but yes, revenants are getting staffs.

Wouldn’t be entirely surprised if warriors get a staff for their specialization.

i won’t have a problem if a weapon is used again within a new specilization. if it is done in a different way. e. g. the thief could become a shadowdancer dual wielding swords with whirl on it. dancing style animation.

I don’t think what people want really factor in to the weapon choices they made, the most of the voice on the mesmer forums have been asking for mh pistol for years but instead we get… shield xD

Those who use magic don’t pray to the Gods to get it. It’s from being attuned to one of the four Bloodstones.
Secondly, not all Warriors pray to the Gods – that’s a purely Human thing, with Norn having the Animal Spirits, Asura having the Great Alchemy etc. Not to mention that the Charr have eschewed all deities.
Warrior=Pistol (I remember a warrior npc faintly during the Queens gauntlet/festival having one)
Thief=Rifle (Sniper play, have no real range weapon)
Revenant=?

Melee main hand focus would be pretty cool…

Off-hand only weapons are really not likely to migrate to the main hand. They are priced differently than main-hand capable weapons.

I want a Skald profession (Bard) and a Focus main hand could work! Of course which class because it isn’t happening now… Maybe Mesmer since they already have little music notes under water with one of their weapons.

I feel this needs to be said so bolding it so it’s not overlooked:
Just because it’s in the dat doesn’t mean it is a sure thing.
Remember the Season 1 ending? A different version, fully voiced, was found in the dat and spoiled by dat divers, but the canon ending turned out completely different.
Warrior will get…
…nothing.
That is, they will get skills when they don’t have a weapon equipped.

Because being down that many stat points won’t break the game on the spot…

Or so you would think.
That’s where the class mechanic comes in.
So do we balance them like they have exotic gear (and they complain) or do they get free ascended gear equivalence in those empty spots (and everyone else complains)?

Warrior get Pistol off hand , no one remember Rytlock in AC story ? Sword/Pistol.
Nothing says that a specialization must grant use of a new weapon.

You could simply base what stats you’d get off your rings or gloves (wearing no rings? like having a weapon with no stats equipped. wearing zerk rings? you get zerk stats as your ‘weapon’ too) Or give them a trait: Sigil Master- lets you wear a sigil on each finger :P (equip 5 sigils on each hand!)
I REALLY hope War gets either a super-quick Dagger MH+OH, or a wide-sweeping Melee staff!

Pistols are a general Charr-thing though, it doesn’t say anything.

i think torch is a great guess for warrior. i think people want thief to get rifle so much they are reading that into it as am i, but i am not so sure that will happen.
Scepter or focus wouldn’t too weird on a warrior spec, if they used it right. They could manipulate something martial like shrapnel, or remote bone-breaking. Or they could borrow concepts from the monk’s retribution line, turning themselves into a spiky mo-fo nobody wants to attack.
Keep in mind that specializations include a slight change to the profession’s lore, and almost anything seems possible.
