Are specializations gonna be included in the demo? Personally, it’d be kind of disappointing if they’re not, considering that they’re pretty much the only thing I really, really care about in the expansion.

They were not in the press event demo, and it’s likely they’re using the same version.

It would be rather silly to make them playable without first having deep dive blogs about them.

Actually we know for a fact that we will get a tour of the new borderland at Rezzed and that is very much new info.

At least until they reveal any of the following: 1) starting moment of closed & open beta and ways of getting into the beta, 2) release date, price and boxed content, 3) specializations, 4) the new borderlands map (which we know we will learn more about at Rezzed), 5) whatever it is that ‘challenging group content’ entails, 6) guild halls. Am I missing anything?

I hope deep dives about specs will be published before closed beta, so march-april.. Because they should be available in closed beta, shouldn’t they? I’m dying to know more about Druid, Mesmer and Guardian specs

It is not actually certain that they will be available in early closed beta.
They are actual betas after all, rather than marketing events and as such it is fully possible that they stagger releases in order to get better focus.

All of them? Almost certainly not. Going by what ANet did pre game launch, they’ll dribble out info on specs at a more or less even pace between now and expansion release.

One or even a few of them, maybe. I wouldn’t get your hopes up too high but it’s at least possible they’d make some available for a big event like this. Assuming they have specs play ready then that’s the sort of thing which would garner lots of attention and excitement.

Yup….. but they’re dragging it out drip-by-drip… I got hyped for about a week after learning of the expansion. The lack of information since is just down right annoying and just puts me off.

That being said I’ll still be buying the expansion as long as my Wife wants to play GW2.

Anet does whatever they feel will bring in the most customers, whether we like it or not.

In addition, they don’t show things unless they’re finished enough so that they can fully talk about them. So it might be that, like the other revenant legendaries, specializations for example are just not yet in the stage where Anet is happy to talk about them.

Or they could’ve waited to announce there was an expansion until the Beta was ready because at that point they could’ve released ALL the info because it’d be mostly finished and they could fully talk about them. As far as I’m concerned the hype train is out of fuel, and might as well just be derailed because I don’t get rehyped.

I’m almost positive that one of the videos released of the demo that they did last week stated that the build was the exact same one as the one they’ll be showing at PAX East, but I can’t remember which. Maybe I misheard.

Still, I wouldn’t count on them having 2 vastly different demo builds out just a couple weeks apart. So even if its not confirmed, I think its pretty likely the demo from last weeks event is the same one they’ll be using at PAX / Rezzed.

Thay can still broadcast a trailer on specializations.

Some factors for you to consider:

- The longer the hype runs for the more people will get to see/hear about it. If they released all the info at beta they would be significantly reducing the number of eyes on the expansion and ultimately the number of potential initial sales. The longer it is in the public eye the better.
- As I understand it the expansion is already very close to the beta stage, they said themselves that they will be going into closed beta very soon after the demos, which is very close indeed. It has only been a little over a month since the reveal and we are only a week away from the demos being played and a possible beta date. That really is a short space of time in the grand scheme of things, and certainly not long enough to start getting impatient.

If you do not have the patience to wait, go play something else in the meantime. We will never get all the information in one go or at the point we get beta, so it is pointless expecting it.

As far as I am concerned, the hype train is chugging along at a steady pace and with plenty of fuel to keep it going. The fuel capacity of the hype train will only be tested during beta, as that is the only stage at which things could get pushed beyond Anet’s timeframe.

Indeed they would be… I’m still quite happy just doing my dungeons and fractals. I guess I’m more peeved about no information regarding my favorite thing to do in the game right now than anything, which is dungeons and fractals. Feels like they just left them behind long ago. They’ve not expanded on “challenging group content” what so ever. I’ll be extremely disappointed if there’s no new dungeons or update to Fractals. EXTREMELY disappointed.

Most likely not in the demo, no. We MIGHT see some Specialization stuff from the Devs that attend, though.

My guess is we should hear something regarding an announcement or two at the upcoming events. It would be a waste if ANET didn’t use the free press to take advantage of it. That should refuel the hype train if your out of fuel.

Depends on when the actual beta starts.

It may be month, it may be 3 months. We may know most of specs till then.

As for the size of the demo:
Don’t make me laugh.

The demo was already fully tested and restricted.

Beta will probably not cover whole stuff at once, but I can safely bet that “marketing testers” will have a lot, lot more stuff to do. Otherwise, that beta would bore everyone in one day and marketing would fail.

I am disappointed, period, by the lack of information. AngryJoe interview gave us nothing and now PaxEast also gave us nothing.

PAX East started today. It goes on for two more days. It is a bit early to claim that they gave us nothing.

But yes, it is very unlikely that we would see specialization announcements on PAX, simply due to PAX not being an event for them were they announce stuff, but rather just go there to market the game.

Wait.. So PAX South was big enough to announce stuff but PAX East isn’t? Usually fly over country isn’t where big announcements are made for any industry… except the Auto industry for the annual detroit auto show.

No, I simply meant that they didn’t go to PAX East to announce stuff, they went to PAX East to market the game. Thus it is unlikely that we will see any real announcements.

Oh, me too, I am just not expecting anything, seeing as they have said nothing about showing us new stuff, while on the other hand they have told us that we will get a tour of the new WvW map at Rezzed. One would think that if they had anything planned for PAX they would have said so by now.

They have the PvP tourny at Pax and the WvW borderlands fly through at Rezzed. I’m guessing they will do a deep dive on Specializations after both events.
