Are we ever going to see these? I mean they are the only wing type back piece that you actually have to work for. It would be nice to be able to glide in style with something that we had to make and i’m sure we could all think of a few ways to fill the gap between each blade. maybe an energy field?

Please ANet, reward the hard work (especially for those who got them infused). Anybody else think this would be a great touch?

I asked this when gliders first appeared. I’d like this and the two holographic wing sets to be able to be used.

Definitely agree with this. I would love to be able to use mine to glide around with. Also how about the Teq wings in addition to the holo-wings being added.

But why a need to fill in the gap between blades? It’s got a jet engine on the back…or whatever magical device equates to jet propulsion.

yeah would love to see that. But as per usual anet is not interested in our opinions I guess, unless they release a gemstore item enabling this, something along the lines “Upgrade your winged backpiece to a glider skin, only 1000 gems”

Or what about a Mawdrey glider lol. My girlfriend worked hard on that piece and thinks there should be some purple glowy vines that come out from it to glide from.

I usually don’t use backpack skins, because (a) I don’t like the clutter during combat and (b) I want to match the back to the rest of my look (not the other way around — the colors and designs of backs make that more difficult than I would like).

However, I would very much use many of those same skins as gliders. 90% of the time, we’re not in combat and during ‘flight’, it’s not as critical to precisely match the rest of the theme for my current armor.

tl;dr I would spend gems to turn existing back skins into gliders (I realize it’s a lot more work for ANet than just flipping a switch)

Exalted glider and snowflake glider are both impractical as real gliders, so realism isn’t a issue.

Can’t really bring physics into the mix because look at this world where arrows can bounce from mob to mob. I’m sure the blades are made of some sort of metal that is light enough to carry all day and you could have a type of energy field that has air resistance. It’s just a way of using your imagination. it IS in fact a fantasy world lol and in my view of this world, Spinal Blades need to be glider skins

I would not worry about norn’s weight. They are all from the same kin with Air.

Funny thing this thread showed up. I just happened to put on the spinal blades on a character and that was my first thought that these would look incredibly awesome as glider!

I do wish Anet would revisit some of the older backpack items that could be also translated into gliders.

If a knitted afghan can be a glider so can spinal blades, lol.
