Spinal Blades back items should IMHO work in the same way as wings backpacks – ie as a GLIDER skin…

They’re blades so would be difficult to ‘glide’.

Maybe if you found a way to spin them very very fast… (j/k)

Did I miss any? I’d love the spinal blades to be a glider skin especially if they added affects to the jet nozzles, but I don’t think we’ll see it happen, since they aren’t gem or expansion purchases.

And include guild banners as a glider skin.

I love mine. It’s look like a jet pack rather than a gilder.

Almost all my toons have the Spinal Blade backpack. I was around during LS S1 and got all the colour options for them. My ele is dressed in green, so I use the green spinal blade. My mesmer is in red, so that one has the red one. And my guardian is in the bioluminescent armor so that one has the blue ones, works nicely with the glowing armor and glowing spinal blades. My ranger and engi have the standard default yellow coloured ones.

I love the look of the jet pack, and really wish they were glider skins as well. Especially if the jet nozzles had flames coming out of them when I’m using the lean techniques.

A holographic energy field between the blades could also be used to justify gliding. As solid light is common in Tyria.

Yes, they are a jetpack of sorts – Scarlet’s clockwork champions actually used them to hover about when they were idling and for jumping purposes during the times we fought them.

I don’t think they would be good for much more than the limited slow fall that gliders are usually capable of, so they would be a good fit. I presume their bladed arms were more used for balance than for aerodynamic guidance.

I do not want to get into discussion if it is “logical” for the blades to glide – tbh probably no of the gliders in game would be able to glide in real word
And Spinal Blades pack is essentially jatpack so….
And yes turning on the engines while gliding would be super cool!

If they do this then they must do the Molten jetpack skin too. It’s an expensive skin that no longer drops so it would only be fitting to add one more function for it. Right?

If they were to do that, expect it’s return to the gem store to justify the cost of having a few members of the anet team make the changes to allow it ‘glide’. Those (relatively few) people that already have it are a small drop player pool, and would/should not get special treatment for an item that is ‘retired’ from active in-game player acquisition.

Shortly following this expect a wave of angry posts from the people that bought or are selling the jetpack for massive gp to complain how anet just devalued and/our gave away their ‘special snowflake’

EDIT: Full disclosure – I have the skin unlocked and am sitting on another that I’ve been waiting to sell. I would love to see it as a glider, but for reasons above have a good feeling that it won’t happen.

I would really like to see them leave cashgrab policy and do this for backpiece which is visually relevant even if it is not gem item!
