Spoilers - final fight is terrible.

I had the same bug. It’s really really frustrating when you have to restart the entire instance and kill the previous 2 bosses again because you had to quit due to a bug.
I was surprised to find that they could in fact outdo themselves and produce a worse final fight than the Zaithan one.
What on earth are you smoking?
I was fortunate enough to do the last boss fight without any of the bugs mentioned and it’s a great well rounded fight. You’re meant to learn and experience the boss, not constantly tab out and see how it’s done. The game tells you he’s about to do a massive ground attack, get in the air and updrafts spawn(they’re not hard to see at all); Is it really that hard to understand?
Please though, besides the annoyance of bugs which i can perfectly understand, if you’re getting upset over it’s average difficulty, please stay away from raids.
you can’t know they’re there until you’re actually looking for them.
You’ve just described everything on earth that isn’t infront of you xD
It was clear what you needed to do and the updrafts are obvious, you were just slow thinking.
However the flying mechanic was very buggy when I did it and hope they get the takeoffs smoother, also the fight didn’t fully reset on death (Eye of Mord stayed up and sometimes the floor didn’t respawn properly).
I can’t see the updrafts either.

This is the Story mission – the idea here is to tell a story – you can’t do that if you break immersion. Everywhere else in the game learning mechanics by dying is fine but here – if possible in order to maintain immersion players shouldn’t be slain because mechanics have not even been explained.
The updrafts are hard to see because at no point was it clear to me what was going on – on top of that the game says “get in the air or endure it on the ground” but you can’t do the second part. Even though it says that you can’t dodge or outlast it.
So the game is screwing you over – it’s giving you choices but only one of them works. The other doesn’t. I tried – at one point after I failed to figure out how I was supposed to “get in the air”.
I’m trying to explain something to you the encounter is not difficult – HoT so far is not difficult – it’s just poorly designed and a clusterkitten. I ran the game as full glass – the difficulty problems aren’t on my end – I can easily do what I need to do provided the game actually bothers to communicate these things to me in a ineligible way.
The amount of on-screen clutter is ridiculous ( same goes for Raids).

Would it have killed them to maybe use a “use these updrafts to get in the air” instead of “get in the air” ?
I understand that some people saw them straight away – but with the massive massive amount of screen clutter it’s sometimes impossible to tell what the hell is going on.

lol this fight was so easy to understand and yes you could shield yourself on the ground where the NPC are but that will neglect your achievement if you are going for that
the updrafts are easy to see and have been updated so you can interact with them making them less buggy
i have noticed some bugs but overal pretty good end fight and if it was too easy for you activate the HARD MODE 5 players one then
I’ve never ran into any of the issues you mentioned and was able to do it in two tries.
I had same problems with this fight. Rift in the mid-air, hard to spot updrafts for the first time (“Fly? Where to?! Should I jump from the platform?.. Oh well, I shouldn’t”), Braham’s/Canach shield didn’t help… Hate to say it, but it was a giant mess of shouts and particle effects. >_> Though incorrect rift spawns were literally the worst.
i could see updrafts but… no matter how much i jumped and activated glider they wouldn’t activate and i would die… took few fights with a team of 5 people to finally finish the fight
was really silly to watch them bug out as well
The problem many who are defending the instance fail to see is that this instance is the one that they definitely needed to get right.
It’s the one that wraps-up the whole story – it’s the one that we’ve been building up towards ever since Living Story season 1 – all of that content was setting it up – all those fights – all the content – everything is setting up this epic battle with Mordremoth – and instead of a clear, smooth enjoyable experience you get a frustrating and confusing fight that’s full of bugs and even when it’s not doesn’t clearly tell you what you need to be doing.
It’s a shame really because people have already bashed Anet ( and for good reason) for the Zaithan fight – and while this one is different in both scope and mechanics ultimately I don’t see it as much better.
Bugs don’t make the fight bad. It’s a bug, it’ll get fixed.
