1st i would like to address that i don’t currently play GW2 as much as i have in the past due to my career and current living situation “wish i had more free time”
From what i have seen recently, a lot of people on here “saying that cus the rest of HoT owner’s are in game doing what it takes to earn the new elites.” while the ones on the forums aren’t. Ive been following every blog post about HoT and most of the videos they post of it on your tube . I remember reading somewhere A-Net saying that earning the new elites would separate the vet players from the casuals and guess what; that’s exactly what the grind in HoT is for . Im by no means siding with -Net in the way they implemented the new systems into GW2 but i under stand why that “grind” for the new things are there .
Look at it like this . When you first starting playing GW2 you started at LvL 1 with nothing . Everything you have on your LvL 80 toons were earned, from skills to gear to legendarys or what have you. I see this expansion just like that, you basically have to earn all the end game stuff of HoT. I know people try are upset because if you are casual just as i am you cannot enjoy “all” of the content you payed for out of the box, but this is an MMO what do you expect. To me more content = more hurs of game play and that’s what MMOS are all bout the content and quit frankly i have to give it to A-Net GW2 has alot more content than alot of other MMOS out there . So much that unless you have a lot of time to invest in it you should never really get bored.
People will disagree with me fully but i think this expansion was made for the core players really the ones who will truly enjoy every drop of its goodness . If you feel like you didn’t get your moneys worth you are probably a casual like me , and most likely move on to the next mmo that comes out. Which also explains why " Core GW2" is F2P now. It will attract more players and give new ones a chance to decide if they will stay with the vets and invest time and $$ “because you are paying for more content” to get the same experience as the vets.
To conclude this sound like a fair business practice to me .
When i have more time to invest in gaming i would love to revert to my h-core GW2 die hard days. " honestly i only became causal to pursuit my career and other goals in life "
GW2 is a great mmo . Even more so now.
EDIT: As much as it seams grindy , i want to correct my self saying that it is more of a progression system. The amount of tasks that you are asked to complete before you earn the skills you want to unlock may seam tedious , but this where you have to understand to make games like this fair you cant just be handed stuff right when you buy a game or the rest of the game will be boring cus you didnt do anything to earn the end game stuff. The whole point is to earn the elites.
I think the online gaming community is to spoon fed in 2015 and as a result of that we have companies who rush to put games out with less content and just sell you content in the form of DLC . I dont want DLC for my mmos that being said the cash shop in this game is mostly cosmetic or pay to convince every thing else is “earned”, and that’s why i don’t think that HoT is unfair.
If anything its best for this type of game to last through the years .
Again i consider my self a casual and if i had time $60 for thousands of hurs of content seams like a fair trade to me .
MMOS arnt met to beaten “get all the endgame stuff” in few hurs . It should take Months “thousands of hurs to get the good stuff”
TLDR : Stop begging to be spoon fed !
