I’m unsure about where to put this so I made a new topic and you can feel free to put this where it’s supposed to go since I didn’t see a section about this itself after looking for a while. After doing the story steps toward the end (and I will keep this spoiler free as much as possible here) I noticed a mechanic that I’m rather put off by.

The penalty box.

In the middle of a fight, if you fall to the enemy you end up above the fight, unable to do anything, in what I’m calling the penalty box for lack of a better word. Usually you can use a rez orb, or one of your friends can try and revive you if you’re with someone else in the instance, but now it seems that you’re just out of the fight entirely. This happened during the last fight of the story when I was the instance owner and with two other people, and thanks to the penalty box mechanic when I ended up defeated I was out of combat and the instance bugged out, unable to continue.

While I understand that this is the direction that you want to go in, I was up in the penalty box, unable to play, unable to leave, and feeling very frustrated. Could there possibly be a way to fight your way back down to the action? A Return Mote after you defeat an enemy yourself? A gun to fire while you’re up there and if you do enough damage you can come back down? It feels entirely useless to be sitting around and hoping that you can come back at the end, hoping that it doesn’t break because you’re not there to do something important, and leaving your friends in the lurch.

Are there plans to do anything else with this mechanic or are we, for all intents and purposes, stuck in the box from now on?

I want to second this. It’s very frustrating that in every other part of the game if you’re defeated a friend can revive you.

I agree that there should be some mechanic that prevents people from zerging the boss and overpowering through sheer numbers, but to completely lock me out while party members complete the battle is silly.

Give me a timer, make me do a jumping puzzle to get back to the battlefield, make me have to fight a veteran. Anything but lock me out of a fight for the duration.
