Hi guys,
im not the kind of guy who usually live in forums and read them alot, but i felt like giving my opinion on stronghold.

First off, i had some fun playing it, probaly because its new and refreshing, but how long will it last. I say that because im afraid this game mode will turn into a lord rush both team full offence kinda like alterac valley is in world of warcraft.(when i played at least)
I feel like there is no consequences to decision you make, or maybe i would prefer to say punishement. For exemple team going full offence leaving no one to defend win without trouble in a few minutes.

This get me to my second point, the supply. The reason i dont like how it work is when you forced to go defence you have to more acces to it, in fact in many games i played i only spent my starter supply and that was it, running the supply is boring and the way the pvp work right now make it so its not really worth it to try to kill an opponent to steal the supply he carry cause its so easy to run away. On top of that you can just wait for him to grab the 2 supply he need then grab yours, i find this a bit boring for a pvp map.

I would suggest making the npc spawn non stop instead, forcing both defence and offence on player, then you would have a reason to watch your side more cause if you dont you could get overwhelm.(punishement for going all offence)

In the middle instead of supply, you could have a conquest like capture point, that grant a buff to you team npc as long you control it, then it would more important to dedicate someone to the middle and would be less boring for the person in that role.

I think the champions are fine the way they work so no change there.
With a constant flow of npc i think the treb would be more useful, hey maybe add a poison field projectile to it.

All this is my personal opinion, i dont see myself play alot of stronghold the way it is, i understand some of you like it the way it is right now, but i still had to voice out my thought.

He who zerks the fastest wins the mostest.

I was in a match with a scepter ele on the opposing team. He had more than enough burst to nearly one-shot everyone on my team; we didn’t have anywhere near enough to hurt him…

he literally spawn camped us by himself….

…..lesson learned.

A full zerker can kill the adds, a full zerker can take out the other team’s bunkers, a full zerker can kill the lord. The team with the most zerkers wins.

If you’re not going in there with a full zerker burst damage spec, then you’re doing it wrong.

…if anet wanted to end the zerker meta they failed miserably.

The only way to play the engineer is to exploit it.
Playing the engineer “as intended” is simply not viable.

If one player was able to lock down your entire team with a zerker build I… I’m so sorry. You and your team probably shouldn’t do PVP ever again.

Meanwhile I used a condition trapper ranger and 3v1ed two longbow rangers and a minionmancer for an entire match because I was too tanky to easily burst and none of them had proper condition cleansing skills in their builds. Their NPCs died and any time they tried to approach me they got condi bombed and died.

Legit lol’d.

Your entire team got stomped by what is genuinely a terrible build that should have been pathetically easy to kill.

Scepter eles are border-line free kills. Actually, almost anything with the berserker armulet in sPvP is a free kill because it’s such a bad set.

Spot on, this is definitely what I noticed during this test. Hopefully anet take not.

Yeah, I don’t know what the other people brought to the table, but my cleric/monk, healing bombs engineer wasn’t even a speed-bump for said fresh air, zerker ele.

…and that’s the point;

1. the defensive builds will never be able to protect the NPCs, against a zerker.
2. the best way to keep the other team’s players from killing your NPCs is to kill the other team.
3. the main object of the game is to kill the other team’s lord (and npcs) which can be healed, slowly, by the other team.

Every objective is best accomplished with a high burst build, and there is no higher burst than zerker.

….and with only 5 players, your forces are stretched thin, making 1 v 1’s very common, and zerker has always ruled in those situations.

The only way to play the engineer is to exploit it.
