So i watched the streams this weekend , and my first impressions of Stronghold were mixed here’s why :

I found it all rather confusing and Im from a strong pvp background in many games , I was hoping it would be more like GVG from gw1 . Granted ive not played it but do we really need more 5v5 ? . I would have preferred 8v8 or 10v10 and a seperate Guild ladder In game , I see more team v pug blow outs by adding this to an already biased Queue System where people who want to play ranked solo get rolled by guild teams .

The concept is great but needs tweaking and the queue system in game atm needs separating to 3 different Queuing solutions

1. Unranked Q for anyone to hop in and play
2. Ranked Solo Q (top 1000) in game added as a rankings tab
3. Ranked Guild Q (must have 5 Guild members ) (top 1000 teams added as rankings tab

Stronghold needs its Own GVG Q and could be 8v8 or 10v10 ( Also top 1000 guild teams added in game pvp tab

Im sure doing something like this would get a lot more guilds and players joining guilds to play together for more fun

Monthly resets of in game leader-boards/ladders with added in game prizes

What you think all , devs and players :P

I agree with everything but I also understand they policy: I think they are scared of spreading the community in multiple queues and possibly make the PvP feel even more empty.

For starters i really believe “practice” has to go as option, only ranked and unranked, based on our brand new and shiny point system.

Unranked can follow the RNG system, maybe having 1 conquest, 1 tdm, 1 stronghold in map option.

Ranked should be divided by game mode.

Total number of queues: 4 (today is 3)

I believe this would work.

The moment I see a group bigger than only 5 people – either in PvP or PvE – I will jump with joy and lay with women while drinking lots of intoxicating substances and listening to Iron Maiden.

I think they are not able to make an interface which shows more than 5 people, so that’s why a squad is a joke and there will be never a bigger parties than 5.

‘would have/would’ve been’ —> correct
‘would of been’ —> wrong

Really great ideas.

I think default Hotjoins add value to the game, you will miss it if it were to go. Fast daily completion, build testing, all nice perks.

My proposal:

[Play Now]

  • As you were.

[Unranked Queue]

  • Includes Conquest, Courtyard, and Stronghold.

[Ranked Conquest] & [Ranked Stronghold]

  • Avoid Skyhammer, Courtyard, Spirit Watch, and be able to select Stronghold or Conquest explicitly, based on what builds and comps you are testing, play the game seriously and precisely how you want to.
  • Why I did not include a Solo Queue:

There is a need to have players separated by team size, IE: a solo queue. However, this can be achieved by matchmaking as long as the queue is populated, so as long as the queues aren’t split up too much, matchmaking can work, and the need for a Solo Queue decreases further.

Splitting the game into Solo/Team Queues also remove the ability to duo/triple/quad queue which is a massive feature.

All I was doing when I watched the twitch was imagining some asura turret engie guarding the door with their little rifle.

I don’t even know why.

But I do agree how massive it would be when you are playing 10v10 GvG battle! WOO

but again

more turret engie.

Skill splits would have to happen for anything larger than 5v5. They refuse to do skill splits even though different balancing for different formats would benefit the game immensely.

In the “Guild Raiding CDI” they did talk about how they would need to change up how skills worked to accommodate more players playing in concert with each other. Maybe if raids actually make it into the game they could have a separate balance table for raids and 8v8/10v10 Stronghold.

I would love to see WvW and PvE get different balance as well. As it stands now the whole game is balanced around 5v5 and capturing little circles. It’s awful.

If you had more then 5 ppl though think about what it would do in this game type you could have 5+ door barkers and 5+ ppl pvding that would be the game. Gw2 is simply not balanced arone more then 5 and to ask for a higher number game type will lead to “zerg” mentally.
