[Suggestion] Gliding
The core maps weren’t designed for gliding though, so us being able use our gliders in them, while cool for us, would break the maps.
It would also ruin the current JP’s so it is not going to happen :/
I know your feels though… I was double-tapping jump all over the place. And foolishly jumping off high ledges expecting to glide to the bottom.

Yeah in the BETA on my ele, I went to malchors leap and jumped off a high area and was sad when I just fell into the water. No glider. Nothing :-( makes me a sad panda because gliding is so much fun. Just a shame it’s limited to HoT areas.

Yup. They’d have to seriously redesign bug chunks of the previous maps, and/or put special rules in place to prevent their use during jumping puzzles. If you could glide on existing maps (which they should maybe allow for a day or so as an end of final beta event), you would be able to 1. break out of the maps really easy in places (and fall into holes you were never meant to reach and get stuck), 2. trivialize most jumping puzzles, 3. skip past temporary roadblocks during various events, making them skippable or easier to complete. At the very least you would be able to reach some “ugly places” that were never meant to be seen, which is fine for “map breakers,” but shouldn’t be seen by the general public, like the back of a butcher’s shop.

Glad I’m not the only one. I had some interesting times in Rata Sum.
Ah, but you could take back garri pretty quickly

Me too.
Hi group, I am Zok and I am a gliding addict, too.

Hmmm true. Surely Anet could put in some measures to make certain areas un-glidable though?
I could see it being a problem with map breaking though yeah, that’s probably why it won’t happen :-( though that’s already happened in Verdant Brink where you can glide to the bottom (https://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/3gad08/beta_things_i_found_under_creeping_crevasse_and/), so idk… >shrugs<

I think it’s safe to assume that Verdant Brink won’t launch that way. My assumption is that they have a whole “undercroft” map back at ANet, and they will merge it into the Brink map at or before launch, but they don’t want it there right now because they don’t want people map breaking to explore it in advance like they did with the Silverwastes JP. The stuff that is down there right now is probably just random junk they use when building content.
I’m sure after launch, if you fall down there you probably won’t even auto-die, and even if you do, there will be “natural” terrain down there.

The problem I have wiht gliding, is grinding out the first point is annoying given the map design.
It should be given as part of the starting story. and used in the story at the start. Then you get all excited about it right off the bat. instead you get to limp round a frustrating map with deadly mobs, and your first experience of hte map is frustration.
