Maybe I’m just not paying enough attention, but does anyone else find it hard to notice when they’ve completed a mastery? I fill up the XP bar, and then notice…sometime…later that it’s full and I should finish training it.

Perhaps filling up the mastery bar could trigger the level-up animation, or some kind of flash on the right-side icon. It’s a not a big deal, and maybe it’s just me, but something would be helpful.

I agree. I find it very unfriendly that any XP earned after filling a mastery and unlocking it just disappears into thin air, not being carried over to the next mastery. It doesn’t seem right that you’re deprived of advancement that you’ve actually earned unless you keep a close eye on your progress and unlock a new mastery immediately upon filling the bar.

Which makes me wonder what happens when all masteries are unlocked. Do XP rewards then become totally meaningless, as they were between the change to the new trait system and the release of HoT? Does ANet expect anyone to be happy about that?

XP is indeed totally useless after completing all masteries

Pretty sure that XP you earn after completing a mastery goes towards the next mastery in the same line as the current one that’s being trained.

I noticed a bar was full rather than almost full (thought the bar was longer than it was), and have a quarter of the next mastery trained that I didn’t plan on training (at least not yet). I also have a tiny bit trained of another mastery (that i didn’t plan on doing yet).

Both of those I’m pretty sure were trained (even though not selected) instead of wasting XP.

I have a bunch of XP in a fractal mastery line I’ve never trained. I assume my overflow from when I finished a line and didn’t notice went there.

Better signaling would be nice, but I don’t think it’s just vanishing.

When you have all tracks unlocked and all mastery points spent (or all tracks at max and unable to spend points), your experience bar does not move anymore.

If you’re at all tracks obtained/points spent, it just says 0/0 experience with an empty bar.

Otherwise, you’ll just have the current track there at max experience (and also be unable to gain experience).

If you don’t have HoT, you have an experience bar and when you level up nothing happens except full health and an AoE knockback. This is the same as the months leading up to HoT.

If it’s venting the overflow to the next mastery in the line, that’s awesome.

I would still like some kind of indicator, so I can activate the new mastery and start benefiting from it, but it’s nice that any excess XP doesn’t go to waste. (At least not until you’ve finished the mastery line, anyway.)
